Make sure the printer is "ON" and the drum led to...
Open the front door, Push and hold the "GO" key for about 4 second, all leds are suppose to light...When alls leds light release "GO" key....

Now take the unit out of the printer ...
By pulling down the blue lever take the toner unit out of the drum unit...
And put it in the new drum unit...
reinstall the unit in the printer close front door and check that the drum led is "OFF "

Will not print the error light and the drum light flash. Replaced drum but still will not print and error light and the drum lights still flash.


The drum counter will have to be reset, Use the following steps.

1. Open the front door.
2. Press and hold the cancel button (x button) until all the lights flash in in order.
3. Then close the front cover.

This will reset the drum counter so that you can continue to print.

Copy is too light after installing new toner and drum,


did you reset the drum counter after replacing the new drum? Open the front cover and press the option button... then just select reset drum counter...and press set...

I replaced the Imaging Durm,but the light is still flashing w/ the error light. It's a Dell 1720dn Service Tag 25MS7D1


Did you reset the counter?
After you replace the imaging drum, you should reset the imaging drum's counter. To reset the counter, press and hold the Cancel button cancel_button_0.jpg until all lights flash in sequence.

We have a Dell 1700 at our office and the drum light is flashing and the page prints out stating the photoconductor kit is at the end of its useful life - so we ordered a new one. We received and installed...


There is nothing on the photoconductor unit to 'tell' the printer that it is new, you have to do this yourself, by following the photocinductor reset procedure (it's in the manual, or

Drum light keeps appearing


  • The Drum LED blinks if the drum unit is near the end of its life. Use the drum unit until you have a print quality problem, then replace the drum unit with a new one.



  • The Drum LED continues to blink if the drum counter was not reset when you replaced the drum. To reset the drum follow the instructions below:
  1. Open the front cover of the printer.

  1. Press and hold down Go button for about 4 seconds until al the LEDs light up. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the Go button.
  1. Close the front cover

Reset drum counter on a muratec mfx 1430


Drum counter is reset by installation of a "NEW" drum.
There is a small fuse at the rear of the drum on the top( you will see the 2 brass contacts) When a new drum is installed, the fuse blows and resets the drum counter. Installing a used drum will not reset the counter as the fuse is already blown.

Dell 1710 printer issue. Can anyone help??? Toner and Drum light steady along with the (!) light also steady. According to the manual the drum needs to be replaced. I have replaced the drum and the error...


Did you reset the drum count? You can do this by holding the cancel button until all lights flash clearing the drum count. This should fix the issue.

Reset after changing the drum


To reset the photoconductor kit, open the front door, press the cancel button for 3 seconds, all lights will cycle, close front cover. The counter is now reset
