SOURCE: VIZIO 50" PLASMA
The power supply in these sets have had bad electrolytic capacitors which short and actually blow their top because of increased pressure. Only part of the switching power supply is now running so you may see a power light but nothing else. I am not sure what Vizio would charge to replace the cap or supply. If this is the case, we would charge for 1 hour labor ($120.00) and for the capacitor ($3-4.00)unless the manufacturer recommends replacement of the power supply. Hope this helps you. SOURCE: 50" plasma wont turn on!!
To reset a TV you simply unplug it for an hour. Your TV needs to be repaired. If you're under warranty the repair will be covered. If you're out of warranty you need to be prepared to pay at least a couple of hundred out-of-pocket.

I had the same problem with my LG 50 inch TV that I bought from Best Buy in Nov 2006. Fortunately I had the service plan. They had to replace the power supply board as 9 capacitors popped, so the TV would turn on them pop and go black and turn itself off. The TV has been a pain. I have the built in DVR and that has failed twice. I have had 3 repairs through best buy. One more time they owe me a new TV when they come out.

No,a universal remote is cheaper, but those codes they give on the owner manual for ur tv model might work or not at all.Try website like Remotes.com to buy an original remote or very close to the original remote.
