Yes.. the reason it flashes protect is cause the OUTPUT IC is damaged so it locks itself to prevent any further damage to the unit or other stuff.. You can

1.) replace the output ics your self (its easy look for the large ICS mounted against the heat sinks..

2.) take it to a repair shop.. which will be my suggestion..

Sony str-k1000p wen i switch it on it flashes protect and continues to jus flash protect, and no sound or anything can be done, also wen powering on the second click takes a while after the first click

If you've made sure no stray strands of wire are crossing from the red connection point to the black it may be a problem in one of the speakers. disconnect them at the receiver, one by one, until the problem clears. If you're seeing this with no speakers hooked up the amp needs repair.

Denon 1909 flashing red ring after 20 minutes

Well on most models red ring singals :

1 ) speaker wires touching something they should not
2 ) internal overheating, shutting down to protect
3 ) something is wrong, bring in for service.

I'm guessing it's out of warranty?

I have an HP VP6111 projector. It hasn't been used for about 6mths and now I try to power it on and the Blue light around the on/off button will light up for about 3 seconds and then turn off. I've...

Please do not unplug the power cord before POWER is shut down or during the two-minute cooling process.
If the projector is not properly shut down, to protect the lamp, the system will detect this and cool the lamp for two minutes automatically before turning on again.

Check that you are doing this.

I suspect that this is not your problem though.

It seems that the blue light doesn't flash very long. do any other lights come on during the startup process.

Um the power light will flash then the protl. light will flash its all hooked up right but weird sounds coming out my subs.

Disconnect subs from output of amplifier and then turn on car and radio. Does amp stay on or go into protect? If it stays on then there is something wrong with the subs or how they are wired (series, parallel ) to the box and amp. If it still goes into protect then something internal with amp.

My Sony receiver is flashing protect mode

Disconnect all speaker wires at the receiver. Then power the unit on, if it stays on, post a comment on this thread and I will help you troubleshoot further. If "Protect" remains on, you need to have your receiver serviced. Hope this helps.

Your drive is write protected

The write protection will either be a switch on the side of the device or is done through the software that came with your flash drive. If this is a USB drive and not something like an SD card, you may be able to remove the write-protect with the windows drive utility or from a linux command line.

Try unhooking the power, ground, and remote wires for a couple of minutes, also check all fuses on amplifier and fuse for power cable (usually under hood around battery), and don't forget to check ground wire connection for "good" contact.
