Check the fuel filter for plugging. The diaphragm in the lower carburetor section should be soft and no holes, plus check the condition of the fuel valve and seat. Make sure all fasteners on the carburetor are tight. Make sure the muffler and air cleaner are not plugged. The symptom indicates that the engine is running on initial prime, but is not replacing the consumed fuel with new as it runs. Hope this helps!

My Poulan 260 pro starts and runs for 15 - 30 seconds and then dies. I have changed spark plug, replaced fuel filter, checked fuel lines. Any idea of what could be the cause?

If you have changed the fuel filter, and the hoses are not leaking, then you may well have a blockage in the internall filter in the carb, the filter is under the alloy pump cover, usually secured with a single screw.

Modle 2075 Replaced fuel hoses now wont start, It has fuel and fire. What should I check now?

Was it running before the replacement of the fuel lines? Does the primer bulb fill with fuel when pumped? Did you replace the line inside the fuel tank? Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Hope this helps!

Poulan 21cc weedeater - starts but won't stay running. I've cleaned all fuel lines, cleaned plug and has plenty of gas - but still won't start. runs for 2 or 3 seconds and dies. appears to not be getting...

On these types of motors that could be the problem, another thing to check is the primer bulb. I have had a primer bulb that had a small crack in it which went undetected for a while. These types of motors do not have a fuel pump and they work on a siphon type mechanism, if there is an air leak dealing with the gas tank anywhere, that is your problem.

These little engines require maintenance just like your car does....even more than just a spark plug change. They have issues with parts in the carburetor going bad, carbon build up in the engine and muffler and sometimes even ignition problems. A good bet most of the time is a fuel delivery issue so you have to start with your fuel mix (you said was good) go to the fuel tank (where there is a fuel filter)...the fuel lines (which deteriorate over time and tend to mess up the carb when they do)...etc. Start with the basics and continue on. Rebuild kits are available for the carb and its not too hard...that may be what's needed as the new ethanol laced gas we have is hard on the small carb parts.

Starts fine but dies when set to run.

You either have a air leak in a fuel line, carb jets are plugged, or carb seals went bad. They sell a rebuild kit for your carb, 10-15 dollars. I would start by removing carb spraying it with carb cleaner and blowing it out with a air gun, put it back on and see if this worked. If not I would replace fuel lines and rebuild carb.

My 20 plus year old 2450 Poulan chain saw dies after about 20 seconds of running.. dies even quicker when I throttle up?... I cleaned the spark plug and the air filter.. any other suggestions

Check the fuel filter and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of all of the fuel lines looking for decay or other damage. Make sure the carburetor fasteners are tight. If still no help, check the carburetor lower chamber diaphragm for flexibility with no holes or other damage. Clean the carburetor with spray carburetor cleaner inside and out while you have it off of the engine. Does the primer bulb fill with fuel after several pumps? Did you check the spark at the plug--it should be blue and snappy. Hope some of this helps!

Poulan model 1800 gas chain saw will not stay running at an idle. It dies after 3 to 4 seconds of idling. Why

Likely needs carburetor rebuilt. The fuel is pumped by a diaphram that runs off the vacuum pulses.

Another thing to check is a plugged fuel filter or an air leak in the fuel finder hose in the tank.

I may have lines on Backwards??

filtered line from tank goes into top inlet at carb. bottom inlet receives line that goes to carb side of primer {draw side} 3rd line goes from push side of bulb bach to fuel tank.
