There can be belts in the tray just like in a CD player to control the moving of the tray. Once they get lose the tray can not finish it's cycle and if it can not the tray will reopen. There are limit switches in these units to tell the computer what state it is in. If these switches get dirty or become defective the signal to the controller will never know the tray is in. It needs professional service.

Denon DRR-M30 cassette tape deck

Either there is a part that is broken or the cam system is needing work to allow it to turn- I would have to look at the unit to give any further detail on what is wrong with it.

My cassette keeps on ejecting so i am not able to play my tapes

The solution from AlecBrown133 above fixed the same problem for me. The only comment that I would add is that the same repair can be done with a normal rubber band. I used one to fix the same issue with my Denon drr-m30 and it is significantly cheaper than the 10 pound option.

Hi. I have a much-loved Denon DRR-M30 cassette deck but cannot get the system to recognize a tape. When I close the door it whirs for a bit then just reopens. There was no obvious cause and the unit has...

Hi. I had a similar problem. Remove the casing and you will see a rubber belt on the left hand side which looks like a miniature car fan belt. Even if it looks ok, the likelihood is that it is now slack and not operating properly. Its purpose appears to be to drive a white plastic cog wheel which secures the tray in position ready for the cassette to play. If the tension is insufficient to lock the tray, it automatically ejects after a couple of seconds of the whirring sound you describe. Contact Charles Hyde & Son Ltd of York who are main distributors for Denon and order part number 7790031, called a tray loading belt. The Sales number is 01759 303068 and that takes you right through to someone who will process your order; the part costs about £10 incl postage. They sent the part the day after I phoned - great service. It takes a few seconds to remove the old belt and replace it with the new one. Good luck
