if you can see the socks you may be able to remove by making a wire hook with an old coat hanger or something similar if you are able to undo the hose coming out of your bowl to the water pump you may be able to also fish out the coins if you are lucky but the best way is to dismantle bowl let me know how you went

SOURCE: We have a Maytag Bravos
It won't go directly to the drain pump, there is a filtering plastic screen beneath the wheel.
1: unplug the unit and open up the cover at the back
2.: you will see the bottom of the drum with a wheel connected to it, hold it tight (you'll need a helper)
3: while somebody is holding it at the back, go to the fron and you wheel the bolt on top of the wheel inside the tub, Un-bolt it
4: once the bolt is remove try to lift the wheel upward using the right left right left motion upward, do this slowly and carefully, remember do not turn the wheel JUST LIFT it side by side
then you will see if there a coin or whatever is blocking the drain, when you put it back, same procedure what you did taking it out only this time you PUSH downward

If I were you, I would leave it, and it should find it's way into the filter.
To try and remove it is quite an involved task.
Please rate my solution.

it is probably money in the pump. I have had my washer for two years now and an on the second pump. I had to call a serviceman to take the pump loose and dump out the change. It had 81 cents the first time and 26 cents the second. I need to call him again but I think I am going to try to do it myself. $85 a service call is just ridiculous when I know what the problem is.
