Please tell us what the make and model no. of the TV is.

Is the tv in a humid environment, did it just begin to rain when the problem happened?.

    How old is it.

If the transformer mentioned here (996500029760 TRANSFORMER CONV.SS42025-03 PHILIPS ) is a high voltage transformer, please be very careful because they produce 30,00 volts. Don't go near it when the juice is flowing.

The circuit powering the fuse is defective, that is the reason for fuse blowing.

If the fuse is the one on the power board, test the capacitors on power board, if they are ok , then replace the power board.

Also get the user manual and follow the diagrams to troubleshoot the problem and test the tv.

The smell and sound are that of a capacitor burst. If you open the back cover you will find wax around a cylindrical object. That's it. Replace it with an exactly the same item.

Heard a loud pop noise on Toshiba TP48D90 tv.Now no sound

Its not worth it. the parts cost alone will exceed the value of the Tv. you can buy a new 50" TV for $500 or less. Time to put it out to pasture.

since projection tvs have 3 tubes, it sounds more like a fuse, or power supply.

No picture, just went off while watching tv

The pink lines in the set happened when the first time it blew out. It is called a burn in on the inside surface of the picture tubes. Not the fault of the TV repair guy. This is the fault of Toshiba. This set has known to have this happen and you should contact toshiba and request that they replace all three tubes for you at no cost. You should also stop using these repair guys who cannot fix a simple vertical problem. Find out who is authorized for Toshiba in your area and call them. They will know, or should know the problems that happens with this model number and take care of them once and for all. Good Luck

TV pops and shuts down

Get a good fire insurance policy!! The problem you have is the flyback transformer but its going to be hard to get just that so order the sweep board that the transformer sits on. Also your making a very dangerous situation for you or your family. Im praying something doesnt go bad in the middle of the night and start the set on fire. As theres always power to that set. Good luck and dont risk your life or anyone elses to save a few bucks. Get a trained tech to service this set, as a TV set is no place for an experimenter to be. Good Luck
