Water pooling inside furnace unit

I just had my a/c units serviced for the season a few weeks ago. For the last few days I have had water pooling inside the furnace unit. At first I thought my hot water heater was leaking (b/c it sits right next to the furnace) but today I heard what sounded like water flowing inside the unit, pulled off the front panels and yes there is water...what could it be?

What does undergassed mean? From what I saw the service guys do, they checked the freon, one unit was fine the other needed half a pound, they cleaned out the condensers outside, they checked air flow (pressure?) with some gauges, they came in and made sure the air flow was clear inside the furnace part and cleaned off some dust. Nothing else has changed, now just what sounds like running water in there. Is this something that would be covered under my home warranty?

Well more than likely your ac is undergassed, causing condensation and eventually water.. get the gas checked in the unit.. I have a strong feeling they didnt gas it up propperly or it sprung a small leak..

by undergassed I mean that the gas is to little or doesnt have enough pressure.. Did they pump in a dye to check for leaks ??? chances are there is a micro fracture caused by the servicing.. Call them back.

Sounds like you had insufficient water flow through the heater causing the water to boil inside the heat ex-changer. The Hi-Limits should have turned it off almost instantly. There is an internal by-pass, almost like a thermostat in a car radiator that could have been stuck. I would need to know if this was a one time thing or it happens everytime you fire the heater.

It sounds like a thermocouple has gone bad. this is a very common problem with gas powered things ie; water heaters, furnaces, hot tubs. The telltale sign is when you release the pilot light button it won't stay lit. This is a safety feature and is relatively inexpensive and easy to repair.

sounds like the coils inside the air handler/furnace are freezing up. likely cause is the freon charge is incorrect (probably undercharged). it may have been correct when the tech did the work but some may have leaked out. it is slightly possible too that the system is overcharged. you should have the system pressure verified, and then have it checked for leaks.

Water dripping (almost running) out of the left corner of air handling unit. Help???

You're correct in checking the drain pipe, because it's become blocked. The only trouble is, you're trying to clear the wrong end. The condensate water is spilling out of the air handler because that's where the pipe has a clog. These pipes usually have un-glued joints next to the air handler, for times such as this. If you can't pull them apart, you may have to cut the pipes and reconnect tham with fittings from the hardware store. (which is a normal procedure.) I usually use a wet/dry shop vac when repairing this problem, sucking out the clog & the water, then blowing out the line to where it drains outside. I've also used the clothes hanger technique to drag crud out of the air handler fitting. Hope this is helpful. ;)
