Question about Karcher Garden

3 Answers

Hi there, I have a Karcher 2650 pressure washer that only pulses, does not reach high pressure consistently. Engine is running fine, filter has been cleared out, water pressure is OK. I even took out the cylinder under the black cap & checked it for deposits and greased it, still no go.

OK, how do I check the float valve and/or other valves? My water supply is fine, not too hot, etc.

  • blair_barnes May 05, 2010

Well, since I don't have a repair manual nor can I find one, and you guys don't seem to be able to give the necessary detailed advice on how to fix this thing (apparently this requires proprietary tools anyway), I'm ordering a new replacement pump that will be ready to install on my Honda Motor.

    Thanks for your help.

This can be a problem with the pump unit. Actually the collector to be more precise. Also, the pump itself. Either may develop a hairline crack and allow pressure to seep out, and tells the pressure switch that it has lost pressure... so it comes back on etcetcetc.

The only repair is to take it to a Karcher dealer or send it in under their rapid exchange plan.

They will not sell parts to Joe Repairman because of liability concerns.

Thanks!!

A seal inside the pump has blown. The basic repair cost is $100 including parts

Just had my own do this! Unfortiunately only Karcher have the bits to fix it and would not sell me any parts, so I had to let them fix it. They did a full service and it now works lkike new, so I have no complaints.

Thanks for using fixya

Above links are for the repair manuals for your unit.
A "chattering" pressure washer pump can be caused by many things. You could have a bent or damaged inlet line, or the water supply might be too low. Fixing these is simple, but checking on the water supply is critical. Never let the water supply run low for any extended period of time. Other causes of a chattering pump include water that is too hot, you may have air in the pump system or a stuck float valve. A power washer pump that is vibrating, but not chattering could be the result of air in the system or debris stuck in the valves. Catching these pressure washer problems early and knowing what causes them will save you a trip to the repair shop, especially when it comes to the low-water issue.

I have a karcher high pressure washer model hd 2500 hk. What would make my unit stop running after about 45 seconds ,running at full throttle and at high pressure

Hi,

There could be two possible causes for your problem, one is oil level in the engine could be low, or the engine is tilted or not positioned on a level ground, and the second one is water in the carburetor. Check the oil level and replace the oil if necessary, drain the fuel from the fuel tank and the carburetor and clean the carburetor ports and jets, check the fuel for contamination, check and replace or clean the spark plug if necessary, check if the air filter is blocked, dirty, carbonated, or saturated with oil, and replace if necessary.

I have a Karcher K3.540 pressure washer. Won't take up detergent and motor pulses ever second if vari-lance increased towards maximim. Motor runs ok at lower pressure but can take 1min to start wh

This fault is within the control head, under the detergent valve is a small spring loaded valve that acts to induce the detergent, this will have failed, the shaft of the component breaks off the disk base leaving a small hole in the centre of the disk. This is enough to allow pressure past the component. The machine will pulse when operated and will not induce the detergent. I've looked everywhere to find this part as I have a karcher with the same fault.

My karcher seems to pulse when on, could this be due to the low water pressure from the hose?

I do not have specific experience of your machine.
However, the high pressure pump will be controlled by a pressure switch on the high pressure outlet to the pipe and jet.
Pulsing (turning off) suggests that the outlet (high pressure) pipe is blocked or partially blocked. Try checking the nozzle and (with the unit turned off) clearing it with a fine piece of wire.
Hope this works

Will it start if you pour a small amount of gas in the carb? If so your carb needs to be removed and cleaned.

Karcher G 3000 BH Engine Pumping Problem

This may not be a motor problem. It sounds like your pump is not working properly and the motor is just following the pump. First thing to do is check for leaks in the pump, wand hose, gun etc. It may also be a blown water seal inside the pump.
