Hi,

Code entry on a Kenwood KRC-X957:
1. press the MENU button till the word "MENU" appears on the display;
2. Press the >> button a couple of times till the word "Security" is displayed;
3. Press either AM or FM till "ENTER" is displayed;
4. Wait till "ENTER" changes to "CODE";
5. Press preset button and enter your "Security Code";
6. Press the DISP button till "RE-ENTER" is displayed;
7. Wait till "RE-ENTER" changes to "CODE";
8. Press preset button and enter your "Security Code" again;
9. Press the DISP button till "APPROVED" is displayed.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Did you check fuse block in the car as well as the stereo fuses?

When the face plate is down does that model have any indicator lights in the rest of the deck to see if it is getting power? My old ken wood used to have a red light that blinked behind the faceplate.

Kenwood Stereo

I presume you realize none of these things produces speaker amplification. A receiver would do that and facilitate graceful and simultaneous interconnections. But it's not a necessity for selective interconnective between them, just not all at the same time.

I can't find any details on anything you named except the Tuner.

Typically, the tuner would use an RCA pair to go to a receiver AUX, TUNER or other Line Level input for source selection and amplification. Lacking a receiver, run it to the Tape Deck inputs for recording.

Ditto for the CD changer, but you'll probably have to disconnect the tuner.

I forgot the security code on my kenwood car stereo. Is there a way to reset the code? I bought it like 10 years ago its a kenwood krc 508s. Please help. Thank you.

I read this on ecoustics forum:
You could try this:

When you are asked for the code, press and hold the 'AUTO' button and "Next Track" ">>|" for 3 seconds till the (----) disappear.

Now take the remote control and Type "KCAR" with the number pad.
PRESS "5", "5", >>| (NEXT TRACK) you should have a "K"
PRESS "2", "2","2" >>| (NEXT TRACK) you should have a "C"
PRESS "2", >>| (NEXT TRACK) you should have an "A"
PRESS "7", "7", you should have a "R"
PRESS >>| (NEXT TRACK) and hold for 3 seconds

If successful you will see 'Approved' and the stereo will go to standby screen

Good luck

Kenwood KX-W6080 dual stereo cassette tape deck

I have the same unit which had the same problem. It has to do with dirty contacts on each tape mechanism.

Remove the main cover and look down on each tape mechanism. You will see 4 contacts on each unit. These come in contact with the tape. Remove each unit by removing 4 holding screws.

You will now be able to spray some contact cleaner into the front of the plastic contact cover. I removed the covers on both of the second from the right contacts so that I could clean them with an abrasive. These are the main ones.

Put everything back the way it was and the tape deck should work great.

Why not plug the cassette directly into the CD recorder? Are they trying to achieve some eqalization change? If not, then this should work. It's all analog at tape level.
