Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

The machine apears to be "dead" even when plugged into the wall socket. I have measured the no load voltage, from the powersupply, and read 18 volta DC. i havent used this machine in over a year. Jim JJsim2@comcast.net

Has it been stored in an open space? I mean, was it covered with something or was it just left like this?

Sundancer scooter flashing wigwag code

The wig-wag can be tested with an ohm or multimeter. The wigwag plug must be disconnected in the tiller console or at the split-frame connector. Speed dial must be turned up all the way. Measure the wigwag with the ohm meter from the outer most tabs. It should read 5,000 ohms +/- 5%. Then measure center tab to either outer tab. When in "neutral" position it should read 2,500 ohms +/- 10%. If the wigwag is in tolerance I would have the batteries and battery harnesses checked next. Each battery should be charged and tested by a battery shop. These should be 12volt 18-35amp hour batteries.
If the batteries test fine then you have a wiring issue where a loose or corroded wire is dropping voltage under load. Sometimes these types of "bad" connections will cause the wire/connector to become warm or even discolor the connector/wire.
Best regards.

18 volts is not enough voltage to run this scooter. You have 2 batteries that should each read a max voltage of 13.5 volts each or 26 to 27 volts when fully charged and measured in series. 2 batteries that are 50% charged will read 24 volts. Your batteries are almost dead by this measuring method. Charge them up or replace them and your scooter should run. Hope this helps.

Turns on but nothing

If you have used a powersupply that has a higher voltage (and most likly different current ratings) then your laptops internal safties are kicking in to prevent damage, thats why it was switching off on you. If you repeadedly tryed and it eventually started then you most likly fried the voltage regulator on the board. Try to use a powersupply of the same voltage/current requirements on your laptop and se if it starts but I have my concerns that you may have done damage tot he motherboard, a skilled electronic enginner can fix this for you but it is often more cost effective to replace the motherboard. If your drive was dead your system would still go to POST boot and somthing would apear in your screen, as your screen is blank and I addume you hear no beeps then your hardware is damaged pre-bios and thus is your power regulation portion of your main board.

Sorry for your troubles, Thanks for using fixya.

You already unpluged before the wall work, so the problem is isolated from the dryer from its plug. Take off the wall socket to inspect since it may have damaged. If you have the voltmeter, measure each pair of the terminal. they should have a voltage at least 110V since it is three-phase voltage. If there is no voltage then just replace the socket. Make sure to turn main power off when you do the replacement.

I think it is dead it wont boot at all

Did you check your power supply? If the transformer goes bad, the machine will not boot up at all or turn on. To check the power use a volt-ohm meter set at direct voltage testing, put one test point on the outside of the cylinder and one on the inside of the cylinder (section which plugs into the computer while having the plug, plugged into the wall socket. If you get no reading, the transformer is dead, not your computer. You can purchase a replacement online. Make sure you match up the replacement type/voltage with the one currently have. See the information printed on the transformer.

Button problem

What those keys on the membrane pad have in common is pin 18 of the keypad matrix. See page 20 of the Service Manual Membrane Pad Continuity Checks. Do you know how to make continuity readings with an ohm meter? Follow the SM to power down the machine and remove the console to get to the console ribbon cable plugged into the Control Board. Very carefully remove the ribbon cable by squeezing the ribbon cable retainer plug ends to release the retaining plug which will then slide up the ribbon cable as in the pic's. Don't pull on the ribbon cable until you slide the retaining clip up the cable. I would check for any corrosion path issues between the pins on the ribbon cable and the mating socket on the Control Board. Follow the service manual for the continuity checks for the keys mentioned. The ribbon cable has black conductive pads on one side of the cable and you may need helper to make these measurements. With no keypad press you will read an open. Between a few of the keys I pressed for measurements I measured 30 ohms to 90 OHMS.
Do not make any measurements on the control board with the OHM meter. Here is a pic of the retraining clip that latches to the socket on the control board.
If the key press readings are similar to my readings for the effected keys I would try reseating the ribbon cable back in the socket on the control board then latch the retaining clip into the socket on the control board, power up the washer and give it a try. If the community checks on the keys in question read similar to mine not open under key press and the ribbon cable socket looks clean with no corrosion then I would suspect a Control Board issue.

If you feel uncomfortable with this I would call in a authorized repair service. Good Luck.

Battery will not charge

The three likeliest candidates are battery, A/C adaptor and laptop power socket. Battery ? Batteries typically last between 1.5 to 4 years, depending on design and use. They are not safely repairable by users or most computer shops despite what you may read. If you remove the battery from the laptop and can run just off the A/C adaptor then the battery is probably the cause. The next test would be to use the battery in another laptop to see if the same problem occurs there. If it does then the battery is defective and needs to be replaced. If the battery does work then it?s likely the charging circuitry in the laptop itself is defective. A/C adaptor - Even though the green LED on the adaptor is on it can still be the cause of your problem. Inspect the cord, especially the jack that plugs into the laptop. The jack typically takes a lot of abuse and it?s common for the cord to be damaged at the base of the laptop jack itself. Often the damage isn?t visible; however, wiggling the wire at the base of the jack can cause the laptop charging LED to come on and off. The only way to truly test the adaptor is to measure the voltage coming out of the jack under a load. The last part is very important; simply measuring the voltage with a meter does not accurately test the adaptor. An easier alternative if you have the option is plugging a working adaptor into your laptop. Laptop power socket - Most times when the power socket in the laptop goes it?s due to a broken solder joint or a broken socket. Inserting the A/C adaptor jack in the socket and wiggling it back and forth can often cause the charging LED on the laptop to turn on and off. If that happens then the socket or the board it connects to needs to be replaced. That requires a major disassembly and is usually beyond the typical user.
