I have new DVDR3475/37, s/n LN1A0741084814. Can not see picture on TV. I'm using component video output to YPbPr1 input on TV.

Should go 2input option then select the ypbpr1 option.

How to connect dvd player to LG RZ-32LZ55 in LCD TV


This 'TV' is really more of a video monitor. It has one DVI input, 2 SCARTS (1 RGB); component video input; composite video input; S-video, and stereo audio and RF inputs. Best picture would be using the component inputs if your DVD player has the outputs. If not you'll have to consider the S-video or composite (yellow) plugs. (Neither is HD capable....)

I cant get a picture only sound not sure its in the right plug?


if your tv and dvd player are good yes might be you have a wrong connection. this is how a proper connection between your tv and dvd player.
  1. first step in connecting a dvd player to a tv unit is determined what kind of connection you want to make, this usually determined to the outputs and inputs available on the dvd player and tv unit.
  2. if you are using a plasma or a lcd tv usually the inputs are: composite inputs- lets you connect a component source like a dvd, vcr, and laser disc. component inputs - lets you connect another component source such as a dvd player. DVI-HDTV - lets you connect an HD receiver with a DVI output.
  3. for example if you select the composite input what you need is a RCA plug which usually a 3 color plug.this picture is an example of commercial rca plug which usually the color yellow use for video and the red and white color for audio.vinceisaac.jpg.
  4. this is how you will connect those wire into your dvd player and tv unit.look for the component output jack of your dvd player .this picture is a sample of component output jack the color may vary depending tovinceisaac_0.jpgkind of brand or dvd player do you have.
  5. now get your RCA plug then the yellow plug insert it to the Y or video out the red and white plug insert it to the left and right AUDIO out of your dvd player.
  6. now look for the composite inputs jack of your TV unit then get the other end of RCA plug. the yellow plug must be insert it to the V label for video the red and white plug into L/R label which mean for audio input.
  7. after you connect the 3 wires re check all the connections make sure the RCA plug is good and properly inserted to avoid loose contact which can affect the picture and sound quality.
  8. now turn on your dvd player and tv unit.

Hi, i've connected my TV(LG60PG30) and satellite decoder to my Bose LS38 following the directions in the manual, but all i get is the sound and black&white pictures. Can anyone help me please? Regards....


The black and white pictures are usually from people plugging into the green component input or output. If you are not doing high definition, you should be plugged into the yellow outputs and the yellow inputs, TV should be on Video 1. If you are using component video, you should have red-blue-and green from sat, bose, and tv, TV should be on Component 1.

Take one co-axial cable, and connect the "input" port to your cable-company's wall-port.

Look at the connectors on the back of your TV. You could have:
* coaxial input (lowest video-quality)
* S-Video input (better video-quality)
* component input - three cables for video, two cables for audio (better video-quality)
* HDMI input (highest video-quality)

Look at the connectors on the "output" side of the PVR. You could have:
* coaxial output (lowest video-quality)
* S-Video output (better video-quality)
* component output - three cables for video, two cables for audio (better video-quality)
* HDMI output (highest video-quality)

Connect the "outputs" to the "inputs", using appropriate cables.

Turn the PVR on. Turn the TV on.

Use the "source" button on the TV's remote-control to select from the various inputs
(Coax, S-Video, Component, HDMI1, HDMI2).

If your TV has 'PIP' ("Picture-In-Picture") capability, connect more than one output to a second input, so that both tuners inside your TV will receive a signal.

Installed a Wii to YPbPr1 port. display is B&W, no color. How do I get the display in color?


Unless the Wii is sending the video signal in component form, you have a case where the signals are not compatible. The Wii is sending "composite" and the TV is expecting component. With the composite signal the Y input, the result will be a B&W picture. Either set the Wii to send component or connect it to the composite input on the TV.

Suggestions:

1. Reset to default values. Per page 36 of manual: 1. Turn off Power. 2. Press Power while simultaneously pressing Speaker A and Speaker B. 3. Once the display starts flashing at intervals of about 1 second, release the two buttons.

2. Make sure you have AM or FM radio reception. This makes sure your speakers, amps, etc are connected and working correctly.

3. Connect DVD player to HDMI 1 in and TV to HDMI Monitor Out.
Play a known good DVD that works when you connected the DVD directly to the TV via HDMI.

Select the DVD/HDP input on the receiver and play the DVD. You should not have to perform any input assignments, etc. It should just work, as HDMI1 is the default system setting for DVD.

4. If possible, obtain a STB with HDMI out & repeat step 3 using the HDMI2 TV/CBL input. Keeping the signal path all digital (HDMI) will give you a better picture quality than forcing several analog to digital conversions (component video is analog).

4A. To use the component connection, first test by connecting the STB directly to the TV via component video/audio if possible. This tests that the component video output of the STB is working correctly.

Next, remove direct connection and connect via receiver. Connect STB to receiver as shown on page 13 in manual. Connect component video output from STB to component video input #2 (tv/cbl) on receiver. Connect the STB audio output to the corresponding tv/cbl audio inputs.

Make sure nothing is connected to the HDMI2 input or to any other TV/CBL inputs (composite video, s-video, digital coax audio).

Now select the TV/CBL input and turn on the STB. You should have both audio & video.

Step 1
Shutdown your computer and look at the rear of the case to determine the type of video connections that your machine has. Nearly all computers will have the standard 15-pin VGA output port. In addition, you may also find that your computer has an S-video port, an RCA composite video port, a set of three component RCA video outputs or perhaps even an HDMI output port.
Step 2Determine the types of video inputs that are available on your plasma TV. There should be a standard RCA composite input, a three-jack RCA component input and an S-video input. In addition, you may also find a 15-pin VGA input, a DVI input or an HDMI input. Step 3 Select which type of connection you will use. HDMI and DVI represent the highest-quality connections, followed by VGA, Component, S-video, and composite. If your computer has only a VGA output and you will not using it solely to drive the plasma TV, you may want to invest in a video card upgrade. Most new video cards will offer dual monitor connections and possibly a separate TV connection. The first monitor connection is intended for the main computer monitor, and the second monitor connection, or the TV output, can be used for either a second monitor or a TV. Depending on the card, the TV output may be DVI, HDMI, component, S-video or composite. Step 4Purchase a video cable long enough to reach from your PC’s video output to your plasma TV. If the distance is over ten feet, you may want to invest in high-quality cables to ensure that the plasma TV receives a clean signal for the best possible picture. Cables over thirty feet in length, depending on the connection type, may result in poor video performance. Step 5Set your computer’s screen resolution to something that your plasma TV can accept, using the “Display” settings in the “Control Panel” in Windows. Refer to the owner’s manual of your plasma TV for the supported resolution and refresh rate. If you are using the S-video, composite or component outputs on your computer, this step may not be necessary. Step 6Connect your PC to your plasma TV using the appropriate cable. Start the computer up and it should recognize the attached display. In the “Display” settings, you will need to configure how the plasma TV is used if it is attached a second display. Most video cards support “Clone” or “Mirror” mode, which displays the same content on both displays. In addition, there is the “Extended” mode, where the second display will operate independently, and windows can be dragged from one screen to the other. If your plasma TV is the only monitor for the computer, you will not to configure the multiple display modes. Step 7Connect a cable from the sound output of your PC to your plasma TV using the appropriate audio adapters. Then relax on the couch and enjoy your videos on the big screen.

1st time using component video connections on my onkyo


Yes, switch to the video input that you are trying to configure (i.e. video 1-4). Press the menu button on the receiver or the remote and cycle to video settings. There should be a setting that says "video output" or "output" - set that to component. You may also have to configure the Input for that particular setting. For instance, if you have an HD tivo going into component 2 but you want it to be Video 1. Select Video 1, hit the menu button and scroll to video setup. Select video input setup and cycle it to component 2. Next, use the menu to cycle to video setup, select video output, switch to component. This should solve your problem. As a sidenote, you may also have to configure the audio in/out if you're using digital coax or optical. Let me know if this works.

Approach 1: Try unplugging the DVD player from the wall for an hour, then plug it back in. It may or may not reset to the factory default settings, which might put it back to "interlaced" output.

Approach 2: When a DVD player is switched to progressive scan, it uses outputs different from the coax cable "TV out" and the COMPOSITE outputs (often yellow, white and red RCA jacks. If you have the proper cables, you can connect them to both the DVD player and the TV, then cycle through the AKAI TV's "source" settings to switch the TV to the new cable input location.

For example, if the DVD player has "component" outputs (marked Y, Pb, and Pr) hook up RCA plug cables between those jacks and the AKAI TV's Y, Pb, and Pr jacks. Connect the Y to Y, the Pb to Pb, and the Pr to Pr, of course. The LCT3285TA has two sets of these jacks. Either will do, but note if you use YPbPr1 or YPbPr2. Once this is done, push the source button on the side of the TV (or on the TV's original remote) until it shows YPbPr1 or (...2 if that's what you connected). If the DVD player is on, you should now see the DVD menu or the picture from the DVD. Now you can use the DVD remote to switch back from progressive to interlaced video. The picture may go blank at this step.

Now push the TV's source button again until you see "3" or whatever channel you had been using in the upper left of the TV screen. You should see the DVD output picture (menu) again. Back to normal.

If your DVD player doesn't have YPbPr connections, it may have a HDMI or DVI jack.
The AKAI TV also has a HDMI input, you *could* get and HDMI cable (or DVI to HDMI cable if the DVD player doesn't have HDMI), hook it up, then cycle through the TV's source inputs until you see the HDMI in the upper left... in the manner I've just described.

Final Note: The progressive scan output of your DVD will actually give you a much better picture on your AKAI TV than its interlaced output. To take advantage of that, you'll have to hook up YPbPr or HDMI cables between player and TV and switch sources when you want to watch DVDs instead of TV programs. You may need additional cables to send the stereo audio output from the player to the TV for the progressive source hookup.
