Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I've got my printer working fine now, on its own. But, it will not take the command from the computer. Should I reinstall. I did change the port to the Printer USB, but I'm not sure if that's right. It's like this, is there a specific port to use on the rear or what? It's the HP 8050 with the driver only.

Okay, as it turns out the specific make and model was shown as the 8000 Series, however I also have the installer for the 8050 only in my installers, so will go through the entire installation again and make sure it all matches. BBL with results. Thanks.

Hello,

reinstalling will surely make the resolve the problem, but before you go through the stress of reinstalling you can try the steps below.

Go to control panel on your computer, click on the printer icon, your printer name and model should be seen there, right click on the icon and select, "set as default" amongst the list. Then try again.

If that doesn't work, attempt to print a page, when the printer dialogue box option pops out, check printer name and make sure your printer make and model is selected then press OK and see if it will print.

If it still does not print after trying the above steps, you can then go ahead and re-install the printer.

Firstly, uninstall the present printer driver, restart your computer, then begin the installation.

You can use USB.

Good luck.

Cannot print from command prompt - Epson U220D Windows 7 32-bit New parallel port with driver New centronix to parallel cable Epson driver APD_455dE (I was using Windows 7 64 bit with a...

The Epson works fairly well with XP. It is to be connected to
a parallel port, usually LPT1
using an IEEE certified parallel printer cable. The computer BIOS
setting is best set for standard parallel port, SPP, bi-directional port
or similar. If possible, do not set it to ECP or EPP or ECP & EPP.

The only native driver for the printer is on the Windows CP CD. Install
using the Add Printer wizard.

The Epson LQ-860 drivers, and a few others, can be used. Using these
drivers, you will discover that the printer actually has some resident
fonts (in printer ROM) that are not accessible from the Stylus
driver. However, with this driver, graphics printing quality is
compromised.

Windows 9x drivers _cannot be used_.

Let us know.

Check if interface at the back of printer is interchangeable to the type of port your computer will support it. Direct USB to USB or direct connection is recommended to avoid future issues.

hi,
  • Is the printer properly installed?
  • Have you set it as your default printer?
  • On the start menu, click on printers and faxes.
  • Is the printer checked[ticked]? Right click on the printers icon and select properties.
  • Check the printers connections by clicking on ports.Had you used same ports connection?
  • If not set them right.
  • Click on print test page.
  • Restart your PC and try printing now.

If there is something wrong with the printer, you should get a error message describing the error.

Does the printer have a blinking orange light after you give the print command? Then there is an error in the printer. If you have documents in the print queue, delete them. Remove the printer cable. Shut the printer down, shut the computer down. Reconnect the cable and turn everything on again.
If there is still a problem there might be something wrong with your printer.

If you don't have a blinking light after the print command on the printer, then try changing the printer cable. If not working, try another USB port. If still not working, reinstall the printer.

Cannot print from computer. printer will print test pages, though

How the printer is connected to PC Via USB or using Network Cable. If it is connected Netwrok cable than printer configuration page and on netwrok configuration there will be IP Address if this is valid IP Address than reinstall drivers and upgrade the Firmware of the printer.

If Printer is connected USB than try different USB Cable and try different USB Port on the computer
If USB port on the computer is working fine and check in Device Manager if the printer has detected as unknown device or not detected at all.
If detected as unknown device than reinstall printer driver if not detected at all than USB Port on the printer is faulty you need to set up hardware repair of the printer.
