SOURCE: how to hook up kenwood kac-7204 1000watt amp

I found the manual & have pasted the url here for you. some things to keep in mind. according to the instruction manual this unit is rated @ 500W, not 1000W. Also to maximize the output you should use 2ohm speakers for stereo applications. Also make sure if you need to extend the power wire, use 10 gauge copper & make sure it's connected to the car battery thru a 60 amp fuse. Also make sure the ground is attached to a clean metal frame or body part by using a bolt & nut not merely a screw. Good luck. If you need additional assistance let me know.

SOURCE: kenwood 7204 car amplifier flashes the blue light

Hello rogman9570,

I'd begin by checking all of the wiring. The most probable causes of this type of failure indication are:

• Speaker wire may be short-circuited.
• Speaker output contacts ground.
• Head unit (cassette receiver, CD receiver, etc.) or the amp ground fails.

If all of your wiring checks out OK, then the amp itself probably has an internal fault.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: kenwood kac-7204 1000w amp with 12 in sub what

bigger the better my friend. Look at your Peak RMS output, and how long of wire you need. Then you could make the judgment call on how thick or what gauge you need. (2 involved factors power + distance). id say 10 gauge and you would be fine.

I would try to remove the top cover of the amp and you might be able to push them out from the inside. Just a shot in the dark.

hi there
The reason for this is the ground is weak to the amp make sure that the post that your ground wire is screwed down to is tight also make sure that is touching bare metal if there is paint on bottom side use wire brush to get the paint off so it is bare metal a weak ground can mess the amp up and make it not work at all hope this helps you have a wonderful day

When i turn the music up sub cut off blue light stay on red triangle cuts off

Hi, the amp is going into protect mode. You can either keep it turned down or possibly reconfigure the speaker connections for a higher impedance. If you tell be the model of your sub, I may be able to suggest a better arrangement.

There is a manual here if you don't have one: http://manual.kenwood.com/en_contents/attachDownload/6017/

I bought a kenwood kac 7204 amp yesterday and i hooked it up to one 12 and one 10 and it sounds good but it gets really hot and it even shuts off do you know what might be my problem??

What is the impedance you are driving. If the load is too low then it will cause the amp to go into thermal shutdown. Look up the recommended impedance for this amp.
