Question about Canon PowerShot A630 Digital Camera
Camera was working fine yesterday. Took several pix. Then turned it on and digital viewfinder would not come on. Turned power on and off a couple times. Did get an image once, but the colors were weird (all purple and green). Then it stopped completely. Tried a few more times and viewfinder lit up but no image. Yes, I did try the display button, which changed it from lit up to black. Now it doesn't even light up. However, even while having these issues, I tried taking a few shots. Downloaded them and they came out just fine. So it doesn't seem to be the camera as a whole or the lens/shutter - just the viewfinder. ??
Sounds like a loose or poor connection of the screen's flex cables, a very common problem for your model camera. The A630's vari-angle screen is a great option for a camera, but with this moveable screen, the screens data and power cables can and do wiggle loose. It is actually relatively easy to fix by just reseating these cables, but will require opening the back face of the screen of your camera. Please see this other person who had a similar problem.
