Problem getting NEC Dterm SeriesE phone to forward to voice mail

I have an NEC Dterm SeriesE phone, stock # 590041. I can't figure out how to get it to go to voice mail, when I can't answer or am away from my desk. The only current option I have to get recorded messages is to set it to Do Not Disturb. I would like for it to only go to voice mail when I cannot or am not there to answer. I have tried the commands I have found listed for this type of phone. The only one I have had success with is the *8 and #8, which do activate and deactivate Do Not Disturb. The *6 and *7 are not working to forward calls to voice mail.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: NEC dterm series II phones-name desplay

This works on the series E phones. It may or may not work on the series II.

  1. Press the Speaker key (do not use the handset).
  2. Dial the Name Assignment access code and wait for the special dial tone.
  3. Using the key pad spell the name. Press each number until the letter appears.
  4. When the correct letter is displayed Press the HOLD key. Pressing the HOLD key will lock the letter in place and advance to the next position.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 continue to spell the name.
Pressing the TRANSFER key will change the current letter to lower case.
Example to enter the name “Pat” press:
77 HOLD 22 TRANSFER HOLD 88 TRANSFER HOLD

SOURCE: NEC Dterm 80 LCD display is defective.

The common thing on this style of phone is the silver ribbon cable that connects the display to the main circuit board comes loose after being dropped or knocked around and needs to be reinserted. You will need to open up the phone to do this. If this is not the solution then you will either need to purchase a used phone, send it in for repair or use another phone to take parts from.

It depends on what type of phone system your terminal is running on. On a NEC 2400 IPX and SV8500 for example it's ASYD sys 1 index 140. A 2000 & key system is different.

NEC 16C Telephone

That would be a call forward no answer case. Ususally this is setup for forwarding you phone to voice mail. Same goes for if you want to ring another phone. Do you know your system access codes? Usually it starts with a * then follows by a number. Good Luck. Jerry

Your phone does not have a password. It sounds like you are asking about voice mail. You will need to locate a programming manual or at least an "administrator" manual for the voice mail system, possibly the phone system itself. Using the phone's part number will not help you in this search. You need to find out what NEC phone system version you have along with possibly what voice mail system/version you have.
