First and foremost, do not believe every email you see.. Also, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Sounds like some kind of scam. If you don't need a repair, don't do anything.

I boght an hp.pavilion from costco in sept.2009 the sales jargon said i would entitled to an uprade in november how do i achieve this

I can only guess that what is meant is a system upgrade. And yes, as far as I know, HP Pavilions bought after the 26th of june (or smthing like that...) with Vista are mostly entitled to a free or reduced cost upgrade to Windows 7.

For more info please refer to:

My lapop tries to power on but it seems like fan is quiting (my guess) and powers off by itself. Then it tries to power on again and does he same thing. One cycle of this behavior is about 15 seconds.

I have serviced an HP DV9000 laptop with the same power problem before. We later figured out that the symptons apply to a known problem with a DV series HP laptop.

You may want to verify from HP Support if your laptop is entitled for a free repair. You may click this link for reference.

Pavillion hp 6000 power button won't turn on laptop

From experience I can tell you if the unit is an AMD processor unit or an intel unit you have a nvidia chipset failure. Only rectification is a replacement m/board. Hp has a limited service enhancement entitlement program - check to see if your units product number is listed on this site - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
if so ring Hp support and claim your repair entitlement ASAP

HP Pavillion dv8320us PC notebook display problem

Kathleen, I apologize for the inconvenience. As your external monitor is also not showing the display , the issue is not with any driver, it is the fault of the graphics card, unfortunately it cannot be removed from your Notebook, It has to be repaired from HP qualified technicians. If your notebook is under the warranty you can avail the mail in service without any cost. Or arrange a paid mail in service if it is out of warranty. You can simply go to HP.com and check the phone numbers of your local area to get the FEDEX box to your house for the mail in process.

Please feel free to contact for any queries.

Thank you & good bye.
