Question about HP Compaq nc6000 Notebook

Touchpad does not work

The touchpad on a Compaq nc6000 stopped working and I would like to know if anyone has instructions on how to replace it. I have these models at work and have spares available I just need to know step by step on how to replace it.

My touchpad and mouse buttons will not work

Download the new mouse and touchpad drivers from HP, corresponding to your model nc6000.
Install this upgrades and you´ll recover all functions.

How do I activate my touchpad on my nc6000?

YOu will need to install the touchpad drivers for your laptop. You can get them here. Just select your operating system. Then click the Synaptics Touchpad Driver heading under Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices.

Hi my compaq nc6000 laptop is not working properly. if the wireless is turned on a blue screen with the instruction irql_not_less_or_equal appears. if the wireless is turned off no problem the laptop...


In regards to getting the "irql_not_less_or_equal" BSOD this can be related to several things. You could be having a driver problem or a hardware related problem. Touchpad does not work, cusor works when usb mouse

Hi, it may be that your touchpad its turned off, HPs and Compaqs have a small button atop the touchpad to turn it on or off, this is for people who find it annoying when typing. If is not that it may the driver, you can find it in the hp site.

I have a solution for you. Its very easy. Just 2 sec work. Press FN+F11. I have not a image of your key board , that's why i stick a photo here & make the symbol. Your Laptop touchpad is showing disable. When you want to use it back press again the same key.

HP NC6400 touchpad

Hi i am an ex HP employee

here are the steps

Remove the TouchPad Assembly
  1. Remove the T8-9 mm screw that secures the TouchPad assembly to the base enclosure.
  2. Turn the notebook right side up and open the display panel fully.
  3. Lift the rear edge of the TouchPad assembly and remove it from the top cover.
  4. Disconnect the TouchPad cable from the system board.
  5. Remove the TouchPad assembly from the notebook.
Replace the the TouchPad Assembly
  1. Place the TouchPad assembly over the palm rest.
  2. Reconnect the TouchPad cable to the system board.
  3. Toe the front edge of the TouchPad assembly into the top cover and lower the rear edge into position until it snaps into place.
  4. Close the display panel and turn the notebook upside down.
  5. Replace the T8-9 mm screw that secures the TouchPad assembly to the base enclosure.
