Intermittant connection and static in reciever

I have replaced the cord with different cords from the reciever to the instument. No change. Other phone work well with different cords so it seems like it is in the reciever.

first solution was to replace the battery. The reciever is not bbattery energised it is on the desk instrument with transformer power.

  • tvc75 May 03, 2010

It does't work well with the original cord which was ok for several months. I used different cords to isolate the problem to the reciever. Need new solution

good suggestion to verify the problem in the rcvr. where can i get a rcvr or get it repaired?

Hello.

Try the speakerphone. If no static, the problem is in the handset, since you replaced the handset cord. Replace the handset.

If static with the speakerphone, either the line cord (from the phone to the jack) or the phone base itself is faulty.

Hope this helps.

    Hello.

I'm unclear as to what you are requesting.

If you truly narrowed down the problem to the receiver / handset, then the receiver / handset needs replacement ... You requested another solution ... what are you looking for ???

Hello,

what this means is that the receiver is not compatible with those cord which you have been fixing in to it

what you need to do is that those cord need to be same with the very first cord which came with your phone 'note' but if you are using the phone for the first time then you have to take your phone down to a shop to get your phone a cord that will be compatible with the receiver
if you can do this the problem of the receiver will be solve

Good luck and thank for using fixya.

It may be the receiver, in which case you have to replace the unit. But before you do, make sure the battery is good. It isn't too expensive to replace one and that was exactly what caused this problem on all of mine after several months of use.

New battery is cheaper than new unit...worth trying.

Mitel Superset 420 corded phone has static

Static on the handset of a MITEL phone is indicative of either a defective handset cord **OR** the user has one of those cord detangler devices attached to the cord. If it's a cord detangler, remove it, smash it with a hammer and throw it away. Advise the end-user to please not use these as they all become staticky after several weeks use. If the user has problems with their handset cord constantly becoming tangled, THAT PROBLEM is indicative of neck or ear fatigue from frequent LONG CALLS and the user keeps moving the handset from one ear to another (changing hands). THE FIX FOR THIS is to give the user either a corded or cordless headset (or check SMDR records for excessive personal calls)

Microphone makes a static sound when it gets moved. The static comes through the speakers when the microphone is held in different positions. Could it be the cord or the connection to the mic?

Make sure your connections are clean and tight. There may also be an intermittant or broken wire in the cord. See if you can narrow the problem down by holding some parts of the wire stationary and moving other areas. gently shake the mike with the set off and listen closely for loose parts making noise. (The idea is to eliminate the areas that are good and what's left is broken.) Hope this helps

Every time I go to a new page it causes static on the picture for a second then disappears. When I stay on one page it is fine...whenever I change web pages, it flickers for a second or two again. ...

Sounds like a video connection problem. It is either your video connection on your PC or the monitor. You can try connecting it to a different video connector on your PC; there are normally a VGA and one other connector. If that doesn't work, it could be your monitor. Try taking it to a computer store and having the techs plug it into floor models.

This headset is brand new, and there is a terrible static noise. what would cause this?

Static can be from a nearby radio transmitter such as local commercial station, ham radio, CB radio, cordless phone or wifi radio, etc., but many times is from a dirty (or oxidized) electrical connection. Locate any volume adjustment knob and rotate it fully clockwise and counter-clockwise several times and check for static again. Remove and reconnect all plugs and jacks several times in an attempt to dislodge any dirt and debris from contact points. If there is still a problem, try connecting the device to a completely different telephone to see if the problem is with the device or the phone.

Try using the old coiled cord set between the telephone and HANDset to plug into the HEADset (instead of the new one supplied with the HEADset) to see if it is a cord related problem. What you need to do is replace as much of the affected hardware as you can to help isolate the source of the static and then contact the manufacturer of the defective part for replacement or other suitable arrangement.

Please rate this reply if you found it helpful. Good luck!

The cord has a sort. how do I find a replacement

When you say short, it means to most people that you have intermittant connection in the cord, and one would say, replace it with the same or better type cord. If you are good at soldering, wire splicing and crimping, it should be fairly easy to separate the base using Security Torx Bits (i.e. tamper resistant screws are used), and a bit of judicious patience. Once appart, if they use crimped or solder connections you can cut, splice and crimp as needed. Your cord will be a bit shorter and you will have to reindex the strain relief service loop, but it should be painless. If you are not confident working with UL listed safe equipment (your loved ones will be using this appliance) you can get it serviced here:

California Electric Service in Concord CA (it is the only Rowenta repair station in California) go to either of the following addresses:
their website is: http://www.californiaelectricservice.com/
or tech service: service@californiaelectricservice.com

My Marshall 8040 has a sort of static sound. It started a week ago and I noticed that if I press the power cord hard into the amp, the static sound disappears. However, once I let go, the static returns....

Hi,

It sounds as if you need to replace the power cord or the power socket on your amplifier.
If you can get into the cord check to see if the connections are tight do the same on the socket.
I guess you have a faulty connection.

Wireless mouse

Try a different mouse pad or use on a white sheet of paper.
Make sure there is no source of electromagnetic interference, like speakers, magnets, etc, close by.
Stay within a 4 foot range of the reciever.
Try a different USB port for the reciever, and try to elevate the reciever (if corded type), by placing it on a book.
Do not use the mouse on metal/glass surfaces as this can affect tracking ability.
Try a replacement of batteries with a fresh set.

Hope that helps!

Static

When I have a static problem with a phone or radio it usually happens when I have them plugged into a extension cord. Or they are too close to one another. You may try an ext.cord. just having the phone plugged in or find out why you have so many magnetic fields in your house and if moving the phone around to different outlets help.If not I suggest you call Radio Shack. You can not beat their customer service.
