Question about John Deere 420,1020,2010,2020,2510,2520 Tractor Float
I've been having trouble with the wiring for the electric clutch on my G110 John Deere lawn tractor since the restraining bracket broke. after a couple of rewirings, there is now a short I cannot find. However I have now found that hot side of the electric clutch is indicating it is grounded when the mower is turned off. This does right to me. could this be the problem? Or should I look elsewhere? It is the only thing I could find.

SOURCE: ELECTRICAL PROBLEM
Can't get you a diagram but i can tell you most electical problems on these tractors can be solved by replaceing the key switch/modual or cleaning corrosion from fuse holders.

Locate voltage regulator above battery to the left as you sit on machine, its behind frame that supports steering wheel.Once you have found it use a light to shine on harness and follow the brown wire that leads into regulator. The plastic around that wire should not be burnt or showing any other color. The LX series machines had a problem with brown wire coming loose and causing the charging light to stay on.Remove plug from reg and use small screwdriver to clean out wire and work it a little so it makes good contact.

They wear out. How old is the mower? Mine just gave out this week in the peak of hay season. (my grass) The wire can be unhooked from the PTO clutch and a 12 volt jumper can test it, if it jumps, it is good, if not, it is shorted out, they are expensive, I found 3 of them all the wrong size for mine. Try to find the same one. Ebay has a couple on there right now. Check it out.

I have found the manual at JD's website. Click the link and scroll down in the left column until you find the heading for replacing the belt. I contains big, clear photos. Here is the link:
You can copy it into your browser window or type it in. I sure hope this helps you out. If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know:)
