Nat can be turned off in the sbg900, but not recommended, as it also shuts down the dhcp, which is responsible for providing ip addresses to you PC,xbox etc.. I do not believe there is a work around. Nat sometimes limits certain games, but I have not found any games other than COD that I have ever had problems with. bottom line, if you need to disable nat, then you will need to plug directly into modem.

With these guides, and bit of web reading from other peoples FAQ's.. I did it.

The guide you need will depend on what modem/router you have.

How do i change my NAT type to open for Xbox Live

Hi

Thank you for your query

It is not the NAT type you need to open

This is one of a 1 or 2 step process

1) Ensure that the port you are using for your Xbox is open on any internal firewall you may have installes e.g. zonealarm etc

2) Log onto your modem router, there will be a option for gaming DMZ, in this selection ensure you open the apprpriate port for the Xbox

3) Enjoy :)

Please can i ask that you leave feedback and vote if this has been useful

Motorola router nat not open for xbox live

Configuring the Firewall for Gaming
By default, the SBG900 firewall is disabled.
If, as recommended, you enable the firewall, refer to the game’s documentation to ensure that the necessary ports are open for use by that game.
The pre-defined SBG firewall policies affect X-Box LiveTM as follows:
LOW: XBox Live data can pass through the firewall. No user action is required.
MEDIUM or HIGH: To enable X-Box Live traffic to pass, you must configure:
• Choose Custom on the Firewall > POLICY — basic Page • UDP 88:88 and UDP/TCP 3074:3074 on the Firewall > POLICY — advanced Page
Configuring Port Triggers
Because the SBG has pre-defined port triggers for games using any of the following applications, no user action is required to enable them:
• DirectX 7 and DirectX 8 • MSN Games by Zone.com • Battle.net®
For a list of games supported by Battle.net, visit http://www.battle.net.
You may need to create custom port triggers to enable other games to operate properly. If you set custom port triggers and enable the firewall, you must customize the firewall to allow traffic through those ports.
To create custom port triggers, use the Gateway > PORT TRIGGERS — custom Page.

SB900 USER GUIDE
The motorola guide has more information relating to port triggers.
If you download the pdf file, go to page 27 for Firewall settings and Page 35 for Gaming Settings..
More indepth information is there.
Hope that helps
Mike

Enable upnp on motorola sbg900

I don't believe that model support uPNP

You can however, try port fowarding UDP port 3074 to your internal IP of your xbox

Need to change NAT settings, dont know how.

Have a look at this page. There is a huge list with all kinds of applications for the xbox and the step-by-step instructions are great.
(I think they are more or less the same for all games, but you might find something specific for what you need.)

Good luck!

Would like to host a game thru my motorola modem/router

You need to look for something on your router called Static NAT and configure it to point to your internal IP address.  You also need to find out what ports your NASCAR game advertises itself on...it's usually high ports (20000-30000).  ONce you find out the port(s), you can create a custom service on your router for those ports, and when you configure Static NAT, it should ask what 'service' you want to advertise.  This basically tells the router to forward all inbound traffic, looking for those particular ports, directly to your IP address, which will allow users on the Internet to see your game server.
Cheers!

Change NAT to open

You need to call xbox live tech support. From there they will give you a code. This code will need to be entered in the settings for you wireless interenet product under "Port range forwarding."

Changing nat on xbox live

I had this issue, and solved it recently. Everyone on the internet will tell you to forward ports, or disable the NAT setting, but these never worked for me. As I was about to give up and buy a new router, as a last resort I decided to call tech support. In about 3 minutes they fixed my problem, and it is much easier then port forwarding.

-First go into your 360 network settings and find its mac address.
-In the router settings move to the LAN tab.
-Then go to "dhcp leases".
-Under "current dhcp leases" your 360 should be listed (match the mac address)
-Make a note of the IP address listed for the 360, then delete that lease.
-Now Reserve a new IP address, enter in the MAC address and IP address you wrote down for the 360.
-Check the bypass firewall option (and give it a name if you want) and then add the new entry.
-On the same page, move up to "DMZ Host" find your new entry and click "apply"
-Click the option to reboot your SBG900, then restart your 360, and the NAT should be open.

I hope this helps, if I described it correctly it should be much easier then port forwarding, and more importantly, it should work.

Can't open my NAT

Hi there.. i had that problem too and i just solved it...
heres the thing..
first you go into the router setup page.. which is.. 192.168.100.1
go to the gateway tab
go to port forwarding tab
go to config
thenTemplate --> custom
Name--> whatever
Port start--> 88
Port end-->88
LAN IP address--> check on your xbox on network settings and copy the same ip address.
Enable --> checked
Then click add.
After that.. you will do the same thing but on the port option you will put 3074. add it ..
now your nat should be open. ;)
