Question about Hotpoint Dishwashers

1 Answer

Our Hotpoint Dishwasher Model HDA200X-73BA has two little white plastic pipe stubs poking out of the bottom of the dishwasher. During one of the cycles--(I don't think it is the drain cycle)-- some water is being released from one of these pipe stubs and then it stops and the other one runs some water. They each only run for a few seconds, but the water is just running on the floor. These little pipe stubs are about one half inch in diameter and project out of the bottom of the dishwasher about one half or three fourths of an inch.

I went to the Sears website and pulled up the diagram of the model HDA200X--73BA dishwasher and I couldn't see the little pipe stubs that are leaking water out of the bottom of our dishwasher.

My hotpoint LSB 5B019B dishwasher is making random beeping noise during the wash cycle. A lot of stuff I've read on line suggests a reset. Does anybody have any idea how I do this?

I have encountered this problem a few times with this particular range of dishwashers and there are a few possible causes.

1.Low water pressure will cause the diswasher to beep during the wash. Check for kinked pipes or blocked inlet valve.

2.The waste hose being pushed too far down the standpipe or the standpipe itself being to low down causing the water to siophin out of the dishwasher. Check your instruction book for correct installation

3. Using poor quality dishwasher tablets can cause over sudding which has the effect of dropping out the pressure switch making the dishwasher think the water level is low

4. An intermitted faulty element can cause this

5. A faulty display board

The first 3 you can check yourself but the bottom two i strongly recommend getting a hotpoint engineer to carry out the repair.

Dishes are spotty & residue on them

The problem is hard water. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a product to solve this problem once and for all. It filters the water going into your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that leave those spots. It is very affordable and even has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look with this product.

Dishwasher didn't drain completely after final rinse.

Check the drain hose stub connection at the disposal for plugging. Lots of material flying around in there which could block the stub pipe. You might consider inserting a short section of drain pipe that has a built-in stub into the regular sink drain and plug the disposal stub. Also check the screen at the bottom of the lower spray arm assembly for plugging. Clean the screen in a mixture of hot water/detergent/white vinegar for an hour or so. That will remove hard water deposits from the screen as well as any food debris. The draining process is a timed event, so it depends on fairly rapid removal of the water. Hope some of this helps!

Over flowing intermitantly

The float most likely dirty. May be getting stuck in the down position (not telling the washer it is full). Look in the manual, it should be in the Trouble shooting section. No manual, look for it on the bottom of the inside of the dishwasher, should be 2" to 3" in diameter/plastic and move freely up and down and inch or so.

Dishwsher wont drain. never happened before. do not use dishwasher very often.

I would first check where the drain hose from the dishwasher connects to the drain stub under the sink. Remove the hose from under the sink and place it into a bucket. Close the dishwasher door and cancel the cycle to put the dishwasher in a drain cycle. Listen for the drain pump to activate. If water comes out of the hose check the stub where the hose connects under the sink with a screw driver to make sure the spout is clear of debris. If no water comes out of the hose, empty the dishwasher by hand using a plastic cup and when empty remove the hose at the pump under the dishwasher and check to see if there is any debris at this point. Make sure hose is clear from the dishwasher pump to the drain stub under the sink. You will need to place a towel or two on the floor as water left in the bottom of the dishwasher will come out when you remove the hoses. If still no water comes out you may have to disassemble the bump assembly. Not knowing what make and model you have I can't help you past this point.
I hope this is of some help.

I want to plumb in a dishwasher but there is no waste pipe for the dishwasher to join on to

Hi,
If there is a kitchen sink nearby you should be able to get a plastic waste pipe adaptor from a hardware store that simply screws in below the sink plug hole and joins to the U-bend pipework. It will have a short stub pipe on it for attaching the dishwasher drain pipe.
Hope this helps. D.

Turned out there was a block on the clear short pipe that goes to a pressure sensor situated to the left at the front behind the front facia under the door which the engineer cleared by blowing it!! The pipe connects to a little stub that sticks out of the blue plastic flow control thing on the lhs of the dishwasher. U can access this by removing the lhs cover but not really necessary...
