If this doesn't work, check the switch on the upper right hand corner where the door opens up. These switches are famous for going out. They're a $15.00 part. You can get a flat edge screw driver and pry open the top of the dryer. Remember, do this with the dryer unplugged. Then, if you have some help from a partner. Have them keep pushing on this switch inside the door, while you set the dryer on a setting - and then keep pushing the door button. You should get the dryer to kick on if this is the problem. The last one I did, I removed the bad switch (which it was), and cut the wires near the switch...leaving the switch plug still plugged into the power source coming from the back of the dryer. I then jumpered two of the wires so they can work the dryer until I could get the new part. I didn't wire in the third wire, cause this wire was for the light. I went to the nearest appliance store and they had the part. I replaced it, and then plugged it in (a visual will make this clear for you) and then everythings worked fine since.  I would try this first. If not, there is a thermal fuse on the lower back of the dryer. It has one screw in in and is white and about an inch and a half long. It has two wires going to it. If you have an ohmmeter, remove one of the wires, and see if you have continuity. If you do, then it's not the fuse. If it's open, then you need to replace it. This is another inexpensive part. Hopefully this works, if not - feel free to contact me again. Good Luck!

Here is what I do. I unplug it, remove the rear cover, and vent. I check for air restrictions that might cause overheating and correct that first, then I check the dryer fuse.dryer was on 10 mins shut off by itself and will n - 5e6fa98.jpgdb192a4.jpg168b350.jpg

Started drying load, dryer shut off. won't turn on. checked door, changed thermal fuse, checked breaker. still doesn't work. light also not on.

If this is an electric dryer, you may have lost half of the power supply to it. Unplug and remove the little cover plate above where the power cord enters the dryer. Look at the 3 screws holding on the power cord for burned/black looking or loose connections. If nothing wrong there, shut off house breaker and remove cover on house plug where you plug the dryer into and look for same type of issues.

Kenmore Series 80 Dryer won't start after Circuit breaker was tripped

A breaker thrown that many times indicates a serious electrical problem. You need to have the problem taken care of by an electrician. You should be worried about the safety of yourself and your family.
That being said, I would guess that breaker has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

Does it restart after it cools down? If so your motor may be overheating and shutting down.

I have a kenmore dryer 80 series it only makes a lite sound when I push the start button. I won't come on. The power is good.

The Kenmore 80 Series of dryers are consumer grade dryers for home use. As with most home appliances, the Kenmore 80 series dryers will occasionally not work as intended. If a problem occurs with your dryer, however, you do not necessarily need it serviced by a technician. You can attempt to troubleshoot and fix any problems with your dryer before contacting a technician.

  1. Kenmore 80 Series dryers may not run for several reasons. First, make sure that the power cord is plugged into a working power outlet. You may need to plug a different device into the outlet to check that it is receiving power. If the second device does not run on the power outlet, you may have blown a fuse or tripped a circuit breaker. Check your fuse box or circuit breaker box and make the change as needed.
Next, make sure that the dryer door is fully shut. The dryer will not run with the door ajar.
Finally, check that the "Start" button was fully pressed and that a cycle was chosen on the machine. If you do not choose a cycle for the dryer, it will not run.
  2. If your Kenmore 80 Series dryer does not heat up during use, check that a heat cycle has been chosen for the load. There are several different dryer cycles you can choose, some of which do not use heat. Make sure that you have chosen a heated cycle.
As above, check that you have not blown a fuse or tripped a circuit breaker. The dryer may use more than one fuse or breaker: one is used to power the drum, and the other for the heating element. Make sure that both fuses or breakers are in working order.
  3. There may be times when Kenmore Series 80 dryers do not fully dry your clothes. When this occurs, check the lint screen and clear out any lint. The air may not flow as well if the lint screen is clogged.
Next, check to see if the exhaust vent is clogged. Lint and other particles may clog the exhaust vent over time, restricting air flow and making it more difficult to dry your clothes. To check the vent, run the dryer and hold your hand under the vent. If you do not feel any air flow, clean or replace the vent.
If you used cold water to rinse the clothes it may take longer than normal to dry. The same is true if the load of laundry is very wet or is filled with items that are very absorbent.
Finally, check the load size. The more clothes in the load the longer it will take to dry. If you want to reduce drying time, separate the clothes into piles of light and heavy items and dry them separately.
  4. please comment on these solution by saying how helpful.

Kenmore 70 series dryer shuts off and won't restart

IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THE MOTOR IS OVERHEATING AND SHUTTING ITSELF OFF. THAT IS ABOUT THE ONLY THING ON THE DRYER THAT WOULD SHUT IT OFF AND NOT ALLOW IT TO START AGAIN RIGHT AWAY, BUT LET IT START AFTER A WHILE. MAKE SURE THE MOTOR TURNS FREELY. IT SHOULD NOT DRAG OR HUMM WHEN TRYING TO START.

Check the vent pipe going to the outside of the house, including the vent louver, to make sure the pipe is not partially or fully clogged with lint.

Your symptoms are a classic description of reduced or no airflow from the dryer.
