Computer screen is black

you may check the lights on the keyboard if there are on. If not try to turn off the laptop and remove the cables and battery on it. Then press and hold power button for 5 secs. Reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop and then turn the power on. If the screen is black and there is no light on the keyboard, there might be a problem with the power supply or the motherboard on it. Try to call your pc provider for that. If the keyboard lits up, check the monitor if it has turn off.. Then if it cannot turned on, there might be a problem with the monitor display itself. Consult also your pc provider for such...

Mylaptop turns on and runs but the screen is completely black. What do I do? The power button is on and the battery charging light is on but the screen doesnt come on at all. I can hear the laptop booting...

Connect an external monitor then power up both the monitor and laptop. If you get display on external monitor, you have 3 possible problem. First, LCD is bad, Second, CFL on your LCD is bad and Third, the cable connecting your motherboard and LCD is bad or the connection is loose. It is better to replace the whole LCD assembly than to repair.

If you have external monitor but still can't get a display, your problem may be on the motherboard.

HP Pavillion dv6000 (dv6190eu) boot issues

take a look at the laptop by opening the screen all the way up and holding it up to light to see if perhaps, the inverter or backlight has gone out, just guessing here. If you can barely see the display then that's the problem.

Also you should try to hookup an external monitor to the VGA output on the laptop then turn the laptop on. See if you get video on the monitor and that will tell you if it's the backlight/inverter.

Updating drivers should not have anything to do with the display going out, however.

Monitor screen stays black even though it's on

Remove the memory from your unit - power it up it should beep if full communication is still happening across your m/board. No beeps you board has died. if it beeps and your using two diffent memory modules just fitt one leave the battery out and power it up = if no display pull power swap out the memory and try again. if display occurrs you have a defective memory module - throw that failed unit away
