I have tried that with the remote and with the GoVideo unit itself and have had no luck. Any other ideas? Thanks for trying...Jan

I will keep trying. For future reference do you have a current email address and telephone number for GoVideo? The booklet has old info and I have not been able to find the current contact numbers. Thanks again for your help...

I unplugged the unit for a couple of hours, tried again and this time I was able to unlock it, put in a cd to record, pressed record from my dvr (which worked in the past) and it appeared ot work, until I tried playback and it was blank..I will try one more time, and then I iwll shop for another machine. Any recommendations for a new machine as far as brand? Thanks so much for all your help...

The manual says that if the Lock is on, it also locks out the remote. So you must do this from the front of the box, since that didn't work try unplugging the unit for 15 minutes, then if it's still locked, try the power button for more than 5 seconds again.

Here's Their Website. That's where I looked up your manual and read about resetting the lock.

    Good luck!

I think your solution is impractical. If the unit is still under
warranty, you should let GoVideo handle it.

A knowledgable tech might be able to point you towards a "stock"
replacement, but finding someone to give out that kind of free advice is
going to be nearly impossible. And chances are the part (even though
cheaply made) would be expensive to buy even if you do find a source.

Next time don't buy a combo unit. They are never worth the sum of their
parts. You can buy a $50-75 VCR that is as good or better and a $80-150
DVD recorder that is just as good as that GoVideo unit

DVD4300

Be advised that this unit, the Go-Video DVR4300, is a combined VCR (video cassette recorder) and DVD Player; it does not record DVDs. Only a DVD Recorder unit will serve your need.

Instructions for recording to VCR from TV is in the manual.
