Propane turbo heater. After awhile why does it start to burn eyes and nose?

Hi Eric

It sounds like the heater is getting the air in the room so warm that it's making your eyes and nose hurt. That can be from dryness, from heat, or from combustion products.
Depending on the partucular model, you can try to:
  1. Turn the set temperature down.
  2. Turn the turbo fan to a lower setting.
  3. Turn the feed valve from your propane tank to a slower feed. At some point, you should be able to throttle the amount of fuel burning in a period of time to where the heat is more bearable.
  4. If you're smelling fuel, or overt burning petroleum smells, turn the unit off. This is a sign that things aren't burning right.
Last, but probably most important. If you are running a unit like this inside, make sure you have windows open. Please take me seriously here - installed propane furnaces have heat exchangers to pull in fresh air, heat it, and pass that air into your house. A propane heater burning inside your house is burning your inside oxygen and, depending on the flame quality, dumping Carbon Dioxide or, worse, Carbon Monoxide, into your house. You can end up dead pretty quickly, especially from Carbon Monoxide poisoning, and you'll likely be feeling fine right up to the time you pass out. These types of heaters are meant more for outside use, so please, if you absolutely feel you must run it inside, keep windows open and have a fan running. You're playing with your health

Good Luck!

Room Thermostat--Right near heater

First move that fridge!! Constricting the airflow like that not only makes the heater cycle too much... it's a safety hazard.

Once you allow the heat to circulate properly you can address the issue further.

I have one in my motorhome. If it falls forward or backwards it will shut off. And if the red safety light comes on it has overheated so turn it off and unplug and let it cool down. After it cools down it will operate normally.

I receive Lo H20 message at an air energy heat pump. Probable problems?

This is pretty common for LOW FLOW through the heater. Most of the time, homeowners turn the bypass the water away from the heater and this reduces the amount of water flowing through the heater. Check the bypass to ensure that you have enough water flowing through the heater.
There is nothing else that will throw this code unless the flow sensor is bad altogether.
Once you have inspected your bypass, and the code reappears, you will need to have the heater inspected and possibly change out the flow sensor.

I have a Nordyne heater modle #E2EH-017HA. The heater will heat up but the fan will not turn on. You can turn on the fan manually. Any idea what is wrong?

Some times they use a bi metal switch its silver metal about the sizze of a dime.
or they might have a fan relay on a circuit board a small black rectangular shape device.
Ihave even seen the solder connections break away from the relay pins.

Sounds like that cylinder is running very lean, which causes high heat. If you have multi carbs, get them synchronized right away, the high heat can ruin a cylinder/burn a valve.

Both fans turn on but no igniter or heat ?

If the igmitor doesnt glow it is probably cracked. If it
is a spark ignition or in both cases check for a flame rollout switch located ontop of the burners should
have a little reset button.

Next if that is tripped yhou need to find out why, vent
plugged or another source drawing air away from unit
