Hello,

You can try the steps below. Its from PlayStation Forum:

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System

If the above steps still does not solve the problem, then I think will have to update your Ps3.

Update your PS3 (in the settings menu the 1st option).

Go on the internet browser on the PS3 then go on the menu press triangle then on one of them there are delete cookies and the delete the others as
well as cookies.

You could also try this as well: put the PS3 on then press the eject button (with no disc in) then hold it and switch the PS3 off at the back with your finger on the eject button still holding it, then put it back on and the fan test should be working this may cool it down. It might be over heating.

But if your problem is not still solved, then maybe you should call sony for further assistance.

I wish you good luck.

Ps3 slim says hard drive corrupted but wont work?

You will need to update the hard drive. You have to go to playstations website and find the update for your ps3 dashboard you can put it on a memory stick make sure to save it just how sony suggests. Then you put the memory stick in the ps3 and it will update your hard drive and it should work. Fixxed several with the same problems that way. Hope this helps. If you need help finding the update just let me know.

My son's PS3 is coming up the hard disk file system is corrupted and will be restored.

The hard drives that are in Playstation 3's are notorious for having corruptions. You will lose all your data but there is no way around it. The best suggestion for you honestly is you can put a much larger hard drive in it, i recommend Western Digital, it uses a 2.5" laptop SATA hard drive.

Corrupted data

It's possible that you're turning off the ps3 while it's saving, corrupting the save data.
Make sure when you turn off the ps3 it's not in the process of saving.
Try the above and if you still have no luck it's possible there's an issue with your ps3's hard drive, have you had any problems with any other games?

Also, if the problem persists, try deleting the MW2 gamedata, located under gamedata on the ps3's menu.
Best of luck to you.

Sir/maddam, my ps3 will only play ps2 games and dvds.it wont play ps3 or blueray.i contacted customer service and went through the steps to restore the corrupt hard drive but was un successful i tried all...

It is possible the laser is weak, or somehow the drive firmware has been corrupted since it will play all other formats besides Blu-Ray. This sounds like a software issue and Sony SHOULD handle this on their end.

Hard Drive PS3

Hi there,

The easiest method of working around a Corrupted hard drive is this.

You need to go out and purchase a 3.5" SATA USB Enclosure. they are quite cheap.
you then must remove your Hard drive from the PS3 and insert it into the enclosure.
connect the enclosure to your PC, the HD Will show up in your computer, you must then perform a FULL FORMAT on the harddrive under the FAT32 Format.

Once done, re-insert your hard-drive, and the problems should have gone !

If they do persist or the hard drive is still corrupted, i would suggest contacting sony Customer support !

Hope this helps ?!

PS3 corrupted hard disk

Yes. All you need is a Seagate SATA 2.5" hard drive. It doesn't matter how many GB it has. If you have the 20GB or 60GB model of PS3 for goodness sake keep it!! That model is backwards compatible and will play PS1 and PS2 games. The 40GB unit does not have this luxury. I hope this helps you. Good luck and happy gaming!!

Corrupted hard drive

Hey michael25,

When a Playstation 3 encounters an issue where data has become damaged or corrupt, the PS3 should normally prompt users to perform a system restore. In some cases simply restoring the PS3 will resolve the problem, but in the event that it doesn't further actions may be necessary.

Should a system restore fail, I would first suggest contacting Sony directly for service if you are still within the manufacturer's warranty. In many instances Sony is able to repair or replace defective hard drives within a few business days, but this would require you to ship the PS3 to them for the duration.

Alternatively, you may always either install a replacement hard drive yourself or attempt hard drive repair using third-party recovery tools. According to Sony, simply replacing or upgrading your hard drive does not void your warranty coverage. Please keep in mind that this coverage may not necessarily include third-party recovery tools (such as Microsoft's CHKDSK, Seagate's SeaTools, etc.), so you may wish to refer to your owner's manual documentation for confirmation before using a recovery tool option.

For step-by-step instructions on how to replace your PS3's hard drive, I would suggest checking out this article from Sony's online support database for more information:

http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/PS3/Manuals

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
