Is there a piece I can install on the bottom of my over-the-range microwave that will help keep the front of the microwave from being covered in steam when cooking on my stovetop?

Every over the range microwave has a vent on it that should be venting that steam. I don't know of anything you could put under there that would solve your problem as that is where then vents are and they would be blocked. It sounds to me as though your steam is not being vented properly, and this could also happen if the steam is being vented back into the room instead of outside as many OTR microwaves allow you to do. Its a little bit of work to vent it outside but I myself did that with my microwave and have never had a steam accumulation problem.

Over the range microwaves have a piece of face plate inside and ive heard it has the tendency to catch fire. Why is that and what can i tell them to prevent the fire in the microwave.

When this happens, it is due to grease or food particles stuck somewhere in the cavity of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

Keep the inside of the cooking cavity clean and if necessary, dry it out after use.

Hello there:
in order to get to the bulb you first need to remove the outer cover by removing the 6 or 8 screws that are along the edge of the back and the sides then there are 4 or 6 that are on the bottom then get a butter knife and the seam on top by the front of the microwave is where you will want to insetrt the knife into to start to seperate the cover from the microwave it willslide back towards the rear after it moves about i1 or 2 inches the cobver will lift off and lyou will see the bulb in the front top towards the right simply remove it and get a new bulb and replace it then test the microwave if all is good replace the cover and the screws ok and that is it (well done )
Hope this is very helpful for you

I need to uninstall my whirlpool model mh7130xeq1 what is the best way to do this and do I need two people?

I'll assume this is over the range. If uninstalling alone please move the range out of the way. Pad the floor nearby to have a place to put it down when it comes off the wall. Be careful of the floor when moving it. Empty the microwave compartment. There should be 2 bolts or screws through the bottom of the upper cabinet that thread into the top of the microwave, these support the front and a back plate that is fastened to the wall that supports the back. Unplug the unit loosen the front support bolts, be ready when they release you'll catch about 50-60 pounds on the front. Tilt the front down and pull the cord out of the bottom of the cabinet. Grasp the microwave with both hands keep it tilted down in the front and lift the back slightly to remove it from the back plate. Set it down on the padding and celebrate success. Good luck. Yes one person can safely remove the microwave.

I found these instructions at Whirlpool they may help. Different model, same concept. Take link for instructions.

Gap between cabinet and top of microwave oven

eastlake...only if you think so. Most of these units use a submounting bracket set and then you hook your oven to it. This is a rather nasty installation...I've done several. If it's sturdy, you may just want to put in a filler piece.

Replace Blub GE Microwave oven Model 1540

On my Spacemaker, access for bulb replacement is on the top of the chassis, which is under the top/side cover. From a diagram I looked at, it appears that yours is similar. If so, you have to:

1. UNPLUG the microwave and then remove the three retaining screws that you'll find on shelf or cabinet above the microwave. Get help; the front of the microwave will be heavy when the screws come loose from the top.

2. Rotate the front of the microwave down a little and lift the rear up about a half-inch. At this point, it is free from the rear mounting plate. Set the microwave on a suitable work surface.

3. Remove the top/side cover piece. To do this, remove all the small screws on the top, the back, and the bottom edges on each side. Then slide cover back about an inch and lift it off.

4. In the middle section of the top of the chassis, you'll then see a cover above the location of the bulb. Lift it up to get access to the bulb.

It's a lame design for an over-the-range unit, but that's the way it is.

Here's a link to a diagram of what it looks like after you get the cover off:
