Question about Computers & Internet

4 Answers

I just bought a pair of "istar" USB speakers which came with no instructions. I have put the usb into a port at the back of the computer and plugged the little green (sorry not real tech savvy lol!) plug into it's socket too. The speakers turn on, but how do I now get the sound to come out of the speakers. I have been trying to test it listening to youtube and nothing comes out - it's still coming out of my computer and the sound in my computer is quite distorted (which is why I got speakers). Can anyone tell me what changes I need to tell the computer in order for the speakers to function? Cheers, MUMOF4

Hello.

You can go to the control panel and then double click the sounds and audio device. On the audio, under default device select the newly installed device audio or what ever indicated in the selection.

If not seen the newly installed device you install the driver of you hardware. may this help.

You should be able to choose the speakers in start > control panel > audio devices > hardware

if you are unable to fix the problem from within the the audio devices, let me know, but that should work

    other things to check

    1. do the speakers have their own volume control which may be turned down or on mute

    2. is there any setup instructions with the speakers

When I start computer,it states 'no mouse', I bought a new mouse and this lit when attatched but sent me back to Notification restart computer and so on... Can you help me please?

If you bought a "wired" USB mouse, try connecting it to a different port. Same with a wireless mouse. If that doesn't work and it's a wireless mouse, there may be a button on the dongle and the bottom of the mouse to "pair" the two together and you'll need to do that. A long shot might be: you need to go into your bios setup <Del> or <F2> at power up screen and enable "legacy USB support"

I have purchased a bluetooth usb dongle and cannot see where to plug it into my aspire sa80 computor

Hello there.

I have found a picture of the back of your computer. Please see below. The picture is a little small im sorry.

A bluetooth dongle connects over the USB port in your computer, while you have some slots in the back you should have some in the front as well. They look like this:

Hope this helps.

I cannot get my keyboard or my mouse to work with my dell computer. what can i do?

Please add more information to get specific assistance. Are these wireless devices? If wired, do they use USB or PS/2 connections.

For wireless devices, try replacing the batteries and resynching to the receiver. (You may want to check putting the receiver in different USB ports.)

For wired devices, disconnect and reconnect. For PS/2 devices, you will need to restart the computer to check if the devices work. For USB devices, try connecting to different USB ports.

Next step, try using a different keyboard and mouse (that work on another computer (stick to USB or PS/2 to match the current pair)). Try a wired set if the problem is with a wireless pair. If those work, continue diagnostics on the wireless keyboard and mouse. Check if the mouse and keyboard work on another computer. If they don't work with another computer, replace them.

If another USB keyboard and mouse pair don't work in any port, your USB ports may have failed. Check if even one port works enough to access the Device Manager. (Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager (Win7); similar directions in other versions of Windows) Check for a problem with the drivers (For USB ports, scroll down to the USB drivers and look for a triangle with a yellow exclamation point or red x). Try to update the driver or roll it back. If that doesn't help and one USB port works, a USB hub may solve the problem.

Otherwise if the USB or PS/2 ports do not work with any devices and the driver fix doesn't work, then I'd suspect a problem with the ports on the motherboard. Replace the motherboard/computer.

I hope this helps.

Headphones with mic / external speakers

Does your computer have front audio ports? If so, you can just plug it in there. Otherwise you need a single male 2 dual female converter to plug into the speaker port.
