Subzero 690 flashing EC and service

The fan went out, so I installed a new one. It flashes EC and service. I've reset it by pushing the bell button and that didn't work. I can turn unit off and back on and it will go away for about 4 or 5 days, but always go's back to EC and service. It seems to be always running. Can you help?

Our Subzero 632 freezer side is fine. The right refrig side is flashing EC then the temp whch is always 41-46 no matter what we set it at. Tried cleaning the coils & shutting off the circuit breaker to see if it would reset itself. whats the problem or is there a way to reset it?

This is the second round of Fashing Service and EC we have had for our Sub Zero - freezer section.  The first time (10/07on a unit installed in Jan of '05) I vacuumed the coils, reset the unit, reorganized the freezer several times and it eventually went away.  It's back now and I've done the same steps but am having no success.  The outside of the door of the freezer - by the hinges - is hot.   It seems to be working too hard to try to cool.  Also, the "sucking" noise from the vacuum compression doesn't happen every time.  Appears the freezer door is sticking out 1/8 of an inch farther than the fridge door.

If the light keeps coming back on and temps are rising in the refer section, then you most likely have an evaporator leak. Check to see if you see either a moist spot or ice on the back wall on the left side of the back wall of the refer. If you do, it's definetly a leak. Call a authorized Servicer.

Rhino, this is yet another simple fix. You need to call subzero and let them know that your ref section is not cooling properly. 9 out of 10 times it will be a problem with the evaporator coil needing replacement. Sub is aware of this issue and usually picks up the tab for this repair.

LUX TX500E thermostat flashing fan. Have installed batteries backwards and reset to factory settings installed new batteries as well. Still flashing fan. Furnace not working.

With this thermostat, it may be flashing FAN because the HVAC (any heating or cooling unit) unit isn't working. In the winter, the pilot light for the heat may not be lit or the air intake/exhaust could be blocked. In the summer, the AC coils could be frozen or there may be another problem. Go to the HVAC unit and look for any lights at or near the control board. Check the outside unit for problems as well.

If there is no problem with the HVAC, try resetting the software in the thermostat. Use a bent paperclip to press the reset button above the Next button; the reset button is inside a small recessed spot. If the problem persists, try a different thermostat. If a different thermostat doesn't work, the HVAC system needs to be serviced.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the type of furnace you have (electric, gas, oil). That might help determine what issue you need to look for on the main unit.

Is it possible to clean the condenser with low velocity air compresser . My sub zero 690 side by side fridge flashing VACUME CONDENSER SERVICE.

Hi,
Yes but this will create a dusting nightmare for the rest of the house. By just cleaning the condenser is not enough for the computer has no knowledge of said act. You must rest the computer after cleaning, your model has a picture of a bell on the panel of the control. Push and hold that bell for 10 seconds, you should hear a beep and the service light will disappear. If this returns, this means either the condenser is dirty or the computer has detected that it takes too long to reach your desired temp. But reset first, less work and see what happens.

Good Luck

When we turn the power on iit only stays on a few seconds then turns off with the cst.in light flashing.. what does this mean and what can we do to fix it?? tks

I had the same problem. We watched a DVD, and the unit worked fine. We went out for ice cream, came back, and decided to watch a VHS. Instead of taking the VHS, the CST.IN light flashed and the unit cut off after a few seconds. We didn't have a VHS in the unit at the time. After cutting the unit back on several times without success, I looked online for solutions. One person said to hit 'eject' 5 times in a row, but that didn't work for my unit. Someone else said there was a lever inside near the power button that ejected the VHS, so I checked that out next. I washed and dryed my hands well, and used my finger to jiggle the white lever. Then I saw that the tray that the VHS sits on wasn't all the way forward, so I gently pulled and pushed it. I'm not sure which of the two actions worked, but my light is now a steady green and my unit is working fine now. I am so glad because we've had this unit for almost 10 years now, and I really didn't want to have to buy a new one! Good luck!
