When you turn the knob you dont smell gas, don't here the click of the igniter, but would like to light the oven manually. Can you help me please.

you can't manually light the oven with a match anymore, you have an electronic ignition in the oven or an ignitor part number 5303935066 and it's around 60 dollars.you have to remove the racks, remove the floor of the oven and then remove the cover and you'll see the ignitor in the back screwed to the tube usually with two 5/16 inch screws. set the oven to bake on 350,if the ignitor glows but doesn't light in 40 seconds it's bad,if it doesn't light at all you can unplug the ignitor and check it with a meter for continuity but most likely you have a bad ignitor.wet a paper towel and wet the two screws, they will come out easier, you can't use wd or anything like that because it will smell when you turn the oven on so use water, if you can see where the disconnect is to unplug the ignitor unplug it or when you get the screws out cut the two wires close to the ignitor, the new ignitor comes with ceramic wire nuts so you can connect the two wires you just cut to the new ignitor, the wires on the new ignitor will be long, you can screw the new ignitor on,leave around 6 inches of wire on the new ignitor so the wire connectors will be away from the tube and not up near the floor and if you have the ignitor screwed on you can see how long to make the wires, cut the wires and strip the ends on the old and new wires and wire nut them together.then turn it on to bake, when the ignitor starts to glow it sholud lite the flame in less than 40 seconds.hope this helps you out.one more thing don't touch the piece of the ignitor that's inside the metal bracket, they break very easy.good luck and have a great holiday.

Our burners light but when you turn the oven on you can smell gas. Can you tell me what is wrong

most of these will have the oven bake ignitor become weak and not ignite the gas when turned on.
you should see the bake ignitor try to glow orange but the gas will not lit to the burner.
without a digital meter to read the current, should be 3.2-3.5 amps then you wont know if the ignitor is weak.
you could try to just replace it and see if that fixes you trouble.

Gas smell coming from oven during preheat. once oven is warmed up, smell goes away. I have a Frigidaire FGF366EBC S/N VF6289284.What would cause this?

Typically, all gas operated appliances will get a "gas smell" from time to time. What you're really smelling is the odorant (rotten egg smell) that is added into both propane and natural gas, as these gases have no smell by themselves.

The smell will vary from normal to very strong as the "receipe" for how much ordorant is added into either your propane tanks or the gas supplied to your home. Typically, when tanks start getting low, the smell is more concentrated, while with piped natural gas, the smell can be very strong at different times, based on how and when the gas company adds odorant into the main supply lines.

Usually when a gas appliance is first turned on, the smell can be rather strong, until the gas ignites. So long as your oven is lighting properly, there is nothing to worry about.

However, if you're hearing a rather loud "whoosh" sound as the oven lights, it could be that your ignitor is getting weak and might need to be replaced. If you've got a weak ignitor, it could be allowing a little bit too much gas to build up in the oven compartment before it lights, hence the reason you're smelling the gas.

You can check for a weak ignitor by simply watching the oven when you start it, if the gas lights quickly, once the ignitor is glowing brightly and you've heard the "click" of the gas valve opening (in the oven), then everything is fine.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

I have a whirlpool gas stove, the bake or broil will not light.

Check to see if the electric ignitors are connected at the ignition module, located under the top surface panel. It is possible that the wire(s) that go to the oven ignitors has burned off or become disconnected from the main spark module,

It is also possible that the electrodes have failed and need to be replaced. These are the two (2) devices that produce the spark (and make the clicking sound) inside the oven compartment.

If those are OK, then check the thermostat, as it could be faulty and preventing the oven from functioning.

If you can smell gas when attempting to turn the oven (bake or broil) then the valves are good, if you don't smell any gas, the gas supply valves (one for each bake and broil tubes) need to be checked.

You might also try lighting the oven manually with a long match or grill lighter to rule out faulty gas supply valves or a faulty thermostat, which if you can manually light the oven, it would prove that the ignitors must have failed.

Here's the exploded line drawings for your stove along with the parts list, just click on each section to see the parts. You can order replacement parts from them as well.

Smelling gas but not lighting

I've had ignitors fail that way, they don't always just burn into an open circuit. I'd advise replacing it.

Oven igniter problem

Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. Amperage should be 2.5-3A. If less than 2.5A - replace ignitor. If the ignitor does not come on - check the voltage on the ignitor, should be the line voltage 110-120v AC. If there is a line voltage on the ignitor and it's not coming on - replace.
Ignitor part numbers : WB2X9154, 4342528, SGR403, 5304401265;

Those ignitors are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires. If not comfortable splicing wires - replace it with the first one in the list, should be direct replacement.

Good luck!

Oven not lighting on Amana model agds902ss

Helloemauldin Welcome to Fixya
My name is Huum,

When you turn the thermostat on your range on it sends 120 volts to the bake valve and ignitor. The bake valve and ignitor are wired in series and the ignitor draws all the current and heats up. As the ignitor heats its resistance changes and when it is cherry red the current switches to the gas valve and it opens. The amp draw on the ignitor needs to be 3.2-3.6 amps for the gas valve to open. The gas valve has gas to it at all times. The gas valve should open within 40 seconds after the ignitor starts to glow.
If the ignitor is glowing red and the gas valve doesn’t open the ignitor is usually the problem. Sometimes the ignitor will glow red but the resistance doesn’t change and the gas valve doesn’t draw the current.

This is not a do it your selfer!

Top oven bake igniter comes on, but gas does not.

Check the voltage on the 2 wires going to the oven gas valve. If you get 120v when the ignitor is on with no gas coming out, you have a bad gas valve. If you get voltage, but it is not much, it is the ignitor. The ignitors don't burn out completely on the ovens, they just get a little dim and no longer ignite the gas and eventually will not turn on the gas valve

Oven, Broiler inopperable

Sandwich, is it your bake or broil thats not working? You have two ignitors, one for bake and broil. One of them is your culprit. This is not a hard job. The post header says broil not working so the part number for that is WB13K0003. Bake ignitor is WB13K0004. To get at the bake ignitor you have to remove the oven bottom inside panel, remove the flame spreader (both easy). The click you are hearing is the board relay sending power to the ignitor. The ignitor has to draw so many amps to open the gas valve. The oven is pilotless. Catriver..post back.

Sister, there is no pilot light on this model. Sounds like you have a bad ignitor, however the F7 code shows as a bad touch pad membrane. d7 must represent how many times this fault occured, although Im not finding anything that shows a d7 code. Try resetting the board by killing power to the range for about a minute. After turning the power back on press the COOKING TIME, DELAY START AND NUMBER 8 PADS ALL TOGETHER. The words test should be displayed. Now you are going to energize the bake circuit; press the bake and start, you should hear a click, this is the bake relay on the board. By holding the start button in you are energizing the ignitor (glow bar) in the oven. If you do not hear the click, suspect the control board. If you do hear the click and the ignitor is not glowing, you have a bad ignitor. Have someone with you to verify the ignitor is glowing when you are holding the start button in. To exit the test, just push CLEAR/OFF key pad. Catriver...post back
