My laptop dell went faint on the display what can i do?

You need to check youtube and look for blank screen

You can call dell and order just the inverter with the part number from it. Also check the bulb to make sure it is not cracked or broken. You can see the wires going into it and look inside the display to see if the bulb is damaged.

Run PSA Diagnostics by using FN + Power Button

Download and Install the Latest BIOS for Your Computer

Try using an external monitor. If it works with this, the display board may be out. If you can see the faint image shining a flashlight diagonally at the screen, the backlight is burned out. It should be practical to replace the display if it's still a good computer otherwise.

You backlight is failing. That is the bulb that provides the brightness to the screen. You need to replace bulb which is very tricky to do unlesss you have experience or replace the screen.

Go to Control Panel - Display - Settings - Advance - Monitor, set it to Default monitor and click OK.
Does the display now fill the screen?
If this doesn't work, go to the DELL WEB site and see if there a driver for the display. To ensure you get the correct driver for your model laptop, use the Service Tag number (which is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop) to the download page for your model laptop, download the correct Windows XP or Vista version of the driver from :-

The backlight has blown. Can be repaired by professional.

If it showed a pinkish tint on the screen before it went out it could be the backlite. If you can see a faint screen when you turn the room lights out it chuld be the inverter. Inverters are cheap ... a used one for around $8 on ebay. Try that first. Make sure that you buy the EXACT model that is presently in your laptop.

reload the video driver

try to uninstall and install the the display drivers / graphics card drivers.. it should help you.
