Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 suddenly stopped working. It does not respond at all but the internal mouse pad still works. I have tried changing the battery, but that has not solved it.

I already tried that, and a restart, but it did not work. However, the problem has suddenly solved itself, possibly because I ran Ctrl-Refresh on my web browser.

The problem is solved, so I do not need need a solution now.

Please let me know whether I am still required to pay for this solution. If so, then I will accept the solution.

Hello,

Have you restarted your system, if you have, why don't you move very close to your system to see if it will make a difference, because it is possible that th distance could be too far for your system to detect it.

You can also remove the battery and stay for a while before putting the battery back for the circuit panel to cool down.

After putting the battery, wait for some minutes before you now use it, it could just be a problem of the panel that needs to cool.

Also check to see if you have not mistakenly disable your mouse from your system.

Take care.

Try the following :

1. Move the mouse closer to the "receiver", so that there is a strong wireless signal between the two devices. Then try to connect.

2. Make sure that the mouse reciver is plugged in properly and is detected by the PC.

Microsoft Notebook optical mouse 3000 not working

Have you tried changing the port in which the USB wireless receiver is plugged?

Or is the receiver internal to the notebook?

If the receiver is internal, try updating the drivers for your machine by navigating to the manufacturer's support site.

If you plug a wired mouse into the machine what happens? If you get the same result, it may indicate a problem with the USB settings on your machine. I would, again, suggest updating the drivers for your machine.

If that's the case, try plugging another USB device into the machine and see if it works properly.

If none of those options provide results, I recommend you return the mouse for a refund or a replacement, especially if you have the receipt.

I hope I was able to help you. Good luck!

I'm having pretty much the same problem with my Microsoft Wireless 4000 mouse and my hp-compaq 8510p laptop. If I shut my machine down, or restart, my mouse no longer works. I have to uninstall/reinstall the Intellipoint software. The synaptics touch pad continues to work, but the mouse fails.
