If you can see the button lights go on, but the screen doesn't. Check if you can access BIOS (F10 while boot up) incase BIOS Screen is not loading up, reseating RAM and Hard Drive should help. Incase, still the screen is black but only lights on the keyboard are on then the issue has to be with the Motherboard.
Motherboard needs to be replaced.

If you have power as you say w/ the lights but no screen, the first thing I would check is by reseating the memory modules in the computer. If that does not work possibly trying a new one.

Second it could be the processor overheated and may have worked loose, it would need checked and reseated.

If that does not work, I would have to say that it is entirely possible that the video section could have a problem, or another power fault with the mainboard.

After all that, I will say, YES it is possible the main board could be the culprit. At one time I know some DV6000's (certain pn#'s) had a recall for main board issues.

What might be the problem with HP-430 laptop if the screen doesn't open and the light of caps locks remain blinking and the processor ventilator is hot? And how can it be solved?

Unfortuneatelly this is a motherboard problem, HP is well noted for this type of issue, the only way to fix this, replace the motherboard. "long shot" sub out the ram one at a time and test, if no change! the main board must be replaced.

Hp 2133 screen is blank when you turn on the power button and only the power button light works

I had the same thing with an MSI notebook. This is most likely a hardware issue and can only be fixed permanently by replacing the motherboard.
For me one trick worked though... when turning it on, instead of pressing once, press the power button rapidly multiple times. I've been using my notebook like this for half a year now, its quite tricky, doesn't always work, but cheaper than a new mobo.

Good luck!

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s3700y that doesn't always boot. Power is getting to the computer; the light on the back lights up as well as the lights on the front. However, power doesn't seem to...

If you saying "doesn't always boot", most common would be motherboard...
If your motherboard still beeps, then probably some other components has the problem like RAM, GPU card etc., depends on your motherboard.

Hope that give an idea...

When i putu the power cable on, the led light blink once and goes off. the screen is black. no fan is moving or any sound.

You should try to start your computer without the battery installed. If that doesn't work, you should try another power supply. If that doesn't either do the trick, it could be the motherboard causing the trouble.

I have a DV 9700. It wont power up. No lights anywhere. I tried a friends AC adapter, battery remove, power button press etc etc. Is the power supply replacable? HP repair shop said they will only replace...

It may be the dc connector on the motherboard is broken. Take it to a repair shop and ask them to confirm whether it's the dc connector or your power supply that is faulty before ordering any replacement equipment.
