: unthread the machine, take a brand new size80 needle and install as shown in your book(scarf of the needle to the right hand side) very important.. Now reomove the bobbin case and double check the threading of it, reinstall the case . now rethread the upper thread. Place a sample material under the foot , turn the handwheel in direction of rotation for a few turns. If the machine appears to be making a stitch , u can use the foot control to test to see if the machine is now working

If it is stuck in the bobbin mechanism, you can remove the bobbin case to extract it. You probably should find and remove the broken piece because it can cause severe damage to your machine. I've actually picked my machine up and shook it to find the broken needle. Sometimes it drops straight through and is actually setting under the machine.

My Pfaff grand quilter 1200 keeps bunching up the top thread on the bottom side of my quilts. I've replace the needle and thread. It won't pick up the bobbin thread. Could this be a timing problem?

Remove the thread from the machine. (Always raise the presser foot and pull the thread up, NEVER down!).
Install a brand new needle.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading.
Rethread from the beginning and verify the thread pathway is correct.
Set the upper tension to midway between High & Low numbers--you may need to tweak this for your particular machine, but this is a standard starting point.
Confirm the bobbin is loaded and threaded correctly in the bobbin case.
Begin sewing slowly. It helps if you begin sewing with the needle in the uppermost position.
Test on medium weight woven cotton.

If it is still not picking up the bobbin thread, then it most likely is a timing problem. You can search the internet for web sites and videos regarding sewing machine timing or take it for service.

My nedle on my husqvarna mega quilter will only pick up the bobbin thread through one thickness of fabric and not through all three layers. Suggestions?

Try a brand new needle. A dull or bent needle will frequently not pick up bobbin thread. Also, be sure you are using a needle type that is suitable for the thread and fabric you are sewing, ie if you are sewing woven fabric, use a sharp needle, not a ball point or jersey needle.

If you are still experiencing problems, it could be a timing issue. Take it for service.

I have Babylock Quilters Choice. How do I set up to quilt? It won't pick up bobbin thread.

Be sure to install a brand new needle. Bent/dull/damaged needles sometimes will not pick up the bobbin thread.

If it still will not pick up the bobbin thread, there may be a timing issue (the needle does not arrive at the bobbin at the correct time to intercept the bobbin thread). Take it for service.

Husqvarna Mega Quilter. After using the thread cutter the bobbin thread will not pick up to continue sewing.

sometimes the cutter doesnt leave a long enough tail to start sewing, and the needle wont pick it up, use a diferent thread in bobbin, sometimes thats the issue, or manually extend the thread from the bottom and then start sewing, it will pick it up then
