Question about Casablanca Fan (3845T) Brushed Nickel Ceiling

1 Answer

Light kit I am intalling the light kit and there are 2 black wires with the one blue wire secured by a wire nut in the kit along with two white wires in another wire nut. From the fan motor is a bue wire and a white wire. The instructions say connect the white wire to the other white wire (i am assuming both white wires). do the blue and black stay connected to the blue from the motor? There is no mention of the black wires in the instructions.

Hi .. usually the light kits come with only two wires that are not connected .. a white and a black. Look again in the install kit and make sure you have located all the wires .. the wire you want is connected to all the lamp sockets .

Ceiling fan and light kit installation 4 wires 3/1 (red, black, white) from electrical box to 3 wire (black, white. green) from fan. How do the wires connect?

I'm assuming from your question the 4th wire in your electrical box is a bare copper wire which is the ground. The green wire gets wire-nutted to that. The white wires get wire-nutted together. I'm guessing you have two switches installed in the wall for the fan because there is a black and red wire coming from your electrical box (one for the light and one for the fan) connect the two black wires together. The red wire is then connected to the blue wire in the fan which is the light.

The supply power to the fan from the house should be HOT 24 / 7. The two lines going to the fan normally have wire nuts for connecting the leads on the fan to the house power supply line and the house common line. You want to tie the blue line on the light into the same wire nut that goes to the Fan switch. White is COMMON. Just add the lights COMMON (White) line to the wire nut that has the other two white lines in it. The blue goes to the Power line from the house. Add it to the BLACK (HOT) lines wire nut that has the fans wire in it. Use your meter to be sure of what color is common and witch is hot. If you have any trouble, let me know in detail what all the colors are from the house, fan and light. I'll put it in order for you. thank you. Please vote. Roger

How do I wire a light kit for my hampton bay farmington fan? I want the fan and light to work from the wall switch

The blue (or black) wire from the light kit is connected to the black wire inside the fan cover.
The white to the white. Make sure to secure power to the circuit before attempting work.
Hope this helps.

Only have two wires to connect to

What timer are you installing?

Intermatic battery-operated timer with red, blue, black and green
Green connects to bare ground
Red is capped off.
Blue connects to one wire
Black connects to other wire
Push on-off button: if light comes on, timer wiring is correct.
If light does not come on, then reverse blue and black wires.

Other in-wall timers except Aube have red, black, white and green
Green goes to bare ground
Red connects to one wire
Black connects to other wire.
White: in back of electrical box are white wires twisted together and covered with wire nut. Connect white white to these other white wires.
If box does not have white wires described above, then connect white wire to bare ground along with green wire.
Push on-off or override switch: if light comes on, timer wiring is correct.
If light does not come on, then reverse red and black wires.

White wires are neutrals and must be tied together to the power lead-in white wire. The black goes to the hot interrupted by the switch. The Blue wire is the hot for the fan but is interrupted by a separate switch. If you want to use one switch then the blue goes to the same black for the motor.

Replacing a ceiling fan pull chain light switch.

that is strange
normally a 3 wire switch could only be able to control 2 things + off. black would be common, red would be one fan speed or set of lights and blue would be the other fan speed or set of lights.
if it is a replacement, couldn't you just hook it up like the switch you are removing?

most likely the black wires are grounds for everything and white would be power. hook it up however you like. white power would hook up to the black wire on the switch and then the blue to one light and red to the other set of lights white wires.
good luck!

Ceiling fan

OK, the wires coming from the top of the fan are going to go into the junction box in your ceiling. Out of the ceiling, you should have a white wire, a black wire, and a green or bare copper ground wire. Make sure your power is off at the fan. Your wires coming out of the fan should be white, black, blue, and a green ground wire. Pull the wires through the top of your fan, and connect the white to the white in the ceiling, the black and blue wires from the fan to the black wire in the ceiling, and then connect your ground wires together. Make sure you use wire nuts and twist them firmly onto the ends of the wires. If you happen to have a red wire coming out of the ceiling as well, just put a wire nut on it and stuff it back into the ceiling box. The blue wire is what works your light kit, and the black is for the fan. Hope this helps you!
