Question about Canon PIXMA MP620 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My canon mp620 printer has stopped printing in realistic color from my iMac (OS X 10.5.8) , and now shifts everything to yellow & magenta tones. I can't see how to change printer settings on the Mac to get it back to true color. Any ideas?

Thanks for the advice. The blue tank was full (and showing as such on the printer display) but started working again after being removed and replaced.

Prints now looking normal again (and less like infra-red images).

Hi kennyt644. It looks to me you are out of blue ink. This printer uses black, yellow, magenta and blue.
Please let me know so I can assist you further. Thank you.

Either the ink you are using is not going to give the color you want, or you have print heads that are blocked.

U130 ink message on pixma mp620

Very simple solution: When the pixma mp620 screen shows error U130, Hold down the stop (red triangle) key for about 7 - 10 seconds. This overrides/turns off the ink monitoring function. The printer will begin "thinking" for a bit and then start printing. Note: you may have to do this seperately for each color. You'll also notice that when the lid is open and the cartridges are in position for changing, the cartridges that used to be "out" are no longer flashing red, nor a stead red. They are dark.

Unclip it again and clean contacts on both printer and cartridge with a lint-free paper and a little alcohol (isopropyl alcohol if you have it). Clip it back and run the head cleaning and alignment routine; that should be enough.

Canon I960 inkjet printer color shifts

We are experiencing something simillar with our imagepress. As far as I know, every heavily used Canon (or used for a longer period of time) tends to skew colors towards magenta a little bit. We are dealing with it by reducing magenta in color balance menu for all jobs on the printer, but the result is never perfect (especially in grey where is needed perfect balance of colors).

Canon MP 730 prints wrong color tones

I was having a similar problem-- what was happening was the print cartridge head seemed to be letting the colors leak into each other. (the science behind this is beyond me!)-- I noticed that instead of being cyan/magenta/yellow, my yellow cartridge had actually turned green, magenta was picking up blue and was turning purple, etc etc. I ended up replacing the printer's printhead and all the color cartridges and then it worked.
You can order printheads online.
Not sure if this fixes the original reason why they got all mixed up in the first place-- if the printer will continue to allow the print head to leak the colors into each other-- but hopefully that's a fixit!
