you need to take it to the remote start system installer - they may be able to change the coding of the signal to avoid this proplem or they may (worst case scenario) have to disable the remote starting part of the system until the cause can be identified and corrected.
Smart Start not working?! Was the unit tested for signal strength and proper operation after installation? If so, and the unit works, did you receive confirmation from Directed Electronics with a link to set up your account? Did you activate your account with Directed Electronics? After activating, did you download the app through your phone? If you have done all of the above and the Smart Start still does not work, your next contact should be made with Directed Electronics and the installer. **Please Note** Downloading the app without activating unit does nothing. Installing the unit without following the setup and test procedure does nothing.
You can reinstall system mechanic but it will still cause conflicts with Norton.because Norton also offers a similar product to system mechanic called as Norton utilities. If u still want to install it without causing any troubles. Then u have to disable real time scanning of system mech. Go to>options tab>select dashboard>make tune updefinition status to hide permanently and save. Also SWITCH OFF IDLE TIME OPTIMIZER IN Norton. Then both will exist without any problem
It might not be a factory installed system. Your best bet is to look around under the dash near the steering wheel and to the left for a black box with a bunch of "obviously not factory installed" colorful wires leading to it. It should have a brand and model number, with which you should be able to find the appropriate remote. Common brands are Clifford, UltraStart, Viper, Directed, Bulldog and others.
----- With this fix, you can take that whole Vats, passlock, passkey garbage system out of your car all together. I know it seems like a risk at 200 bucks, but seriously i had no happier day than when i finally got that thing out of my car. I'd been dealing with a "sometimes starting" car for a year. Trust me, this exactly what you need. They have a 100% money back guarantee+shipping, a support line, and pictured instructions,I couldnt be happier and i KNOW this will help ya. Took me about 45 minutes to locate the part in my car, and 10 minutes to install the bypass. LOL
Eliminate it, instead of using that resister as a bandaid
sounds like a broken fuser drive gear. The fuser operates a nearly 400 degrees Fahrenheit and the drive gear cracks and falls off.Lots of trouble for a 50 cent gear. They are mad of fiber or plastic.take a few of the covers off near the fuser and disconnect the cables and the fuser slides out
look under the dash for a small silver toggle switch....this is a disable switch for the remote start portion of the system..you may have kicked it / bumped it with your foot, causing the remote start portion to be deactivated. Just flip the switch the opposite way and try again..
Also, there may have been a pin style switch installed under the hood...Check to see if it is bent or broken, if it is, simply disconnect it and insulate the wire that was going to it.
This wire is used as a safety to keep the vehicle from remote starting while the hood is up..to keep people from being injured if the remote start is activated while the engine is being worked on.
Have whatever shop installed the system replace your pinswitch if that is the problem.
