Not picking up the wand works and there is a lot of suction there but when vacuuming the floor it sounds different and is not picking up

If it's not picking up when you're using the brushroll start with a new belt. Stretch belts lose elasticity because they are stretched to almost twice their original length to install them on the vacuum. They are very tight, and need to be to vacuum carpet thoroughly. While you have the brush roll out clean off any hair, yarn, string, dirt etc. check the suction tube to the power nozzle to make sure you have good suction there. If not try the determine what could be causing a restriction.

This is unused shampoo attachment. We buy new parts and assemble this shampoo attachment so you will be the first one to use it.
Set includes:
  1. Tray with shield
  2. Nozzle
  3. Brush roll
  4. Belt
  5. Container with cap
  6. Hose
  7. 12 oz. shampoo
NOTE - pictured Kirby Sentria shampooer box may not be included.
If you have never used this shampoo, we highly recommend reading our ONLINE MANUAL. This is a simple but very effective unit but you have to learn how to use it and "common sense" will not be enough! HOW TO - V I D E O S

Tank with soapy solution is attached in place of the bag. It utilizes the air coming out of the exhaust to blow soapy water on a small screen that turns it into thick foam. The foam is simply laid over the carpet (you must vacuum before you shampoo). Foam allows the spread of a small amount of water over the area so carpet is not soaked all the way through. Foam is left on the carpet for a few minutes so it has just enough time to moisten the fibers of the carpet and loosen the dirt (not too long otherwise foam may dry). Then foam maker is set to "OFF" and you slowly pull Kirby vacuum over the area where you laid the foam. The rotating brush in the shampooer nozzle rubs the moisture off carpet fibers and and throws it into the tray in front of the unit. You will not see gallons of dirty water but that is because you did not put it on the rug in the first place. Carpet should dry within 1-4 hours (depends how many times you laid the foam and what is humidity in the room). After it dries it has to be vacuumed. Solution that did not get picked up with the shampooer brush dries and shampoo additives do not let the dirt stick back to the fibers of the carpet. It is loose when it dries so in order to pick up what is left, you must vacuum again.
Shampoo:
You can use any carpet shampoo sold in your local store but make sure that this is carpet shampoo that makes foam and pay attention how much you have to dilute it with water as various shampoo products come in different concentration. Avoid using "just anything" that makes foam. Some household chemicals (such as dishwasher fluid) will do great job but it will leave carpet unprotected so dirt will stick to it so well that you will have a filthy rug in no time. Belt is strech doese not pick up diert

Hi! The brushes are needed to spin on carpet to agitate the carpet fibers and assist the motor with maximum pick up. If the belt is stretched you will need to replace it. This unit takes belt 562633001. Below are step-by-step instructions for replacing the belt on your Nano.

1. Lay the cleaner flat and flip it to expose the
nozzle base. The base should lay flat and face up.
Remove the five (5) screws.
2. Pull and lift the nozzle guard off.
3. Lift and remove the brushroll. Dispose of the
old belt.
4. Slide belt onto motorshaft.
5. Place new belt in area of brushroll without
bristles.
6. With new belt in place, pull and slide brushroll
into nozzle making sure that the brushroll end caps
are in the correct orientation. Rotate brushroll
manually to make sure belt is properly aligned.
7. Reattach nozzle guard.
8. Secure by aligning the three tabs in the
base slots.
9. Replace all five screws to secure nozzle guard.

Hope this helps!

Can't get the adjustment correct after removing the beater brush - won't pick up on carpet

You say you removed the beater brush--
Is this on a power nozzle, or an upright vacuum?

Is there an adjustment that you step on, to set at various heights?
(Or like on Most Power Nozzles,-- there is one a 'new
and a 'worn setting.-- In the latter you have to open up the Power Nozzle, and reverse a brush height setting piece--- it only has 2 adjustments.)

Tell us more about your machine--
Make and model might help--

But what you have done, and what are the clues-- those will help us the most.

My broan cv30 purchased in 1996 carpet power head unit sucks up dirt and rocks but will not pick string or yarns up from carpeting. I find myself picking it up. It is sucking fine dirt and small...

It's possible you simply need a new belt or roller brush. Place the power nozzle upside-down turn the vacuum on. Ensure the brush turns. If it doesn't, the belt has broken or is too worn to turn it. Replace the belt. Make sure the tension is properly set prior to reassembling the power nozzle.
Next, with the power nozzle upside down, run the flat of your palm across the brush area. If you can barely feel the bristles, it needs replaced. A good brush will loosen the yarn and strings, but needs to be cleaned periodically.
As long as the powerhead motor is running, there is no need to replace it. If it's not running, look for a reset button and press it. There could also be a broken wire, loose connection, or bad switch causing a power head motor to not operate..

The main problem is a weird noise caused by the brush not spinning on the carpet like it used to do strongly leaving a sweep mark on the carpet, which helps pick up the dust through suction. Seems to have lost the power, so I raised it, but it still doesn't pick up that well. What should I do, I already checked the belt, ripped all linen spinned on the brush. It just doesn't leave that mark on the carpet after being swept, it just stops. What should I do? Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. A couple of the problems you seem to be having is that the belt is stretched out and not picking up well and the other is the brushroll is not spinning freely in order to pup the dust and dirt. The average flat belt change is every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning and the check your brushroll to see if that spins freely if not it is probably bound up with thread and hair and needs to be cleaned off @ every belt change. If the belt is tight it cleans well and the brushroll does not get a chance to wrap around the brushroll and slow it down. All part of the maintenance of a vacuum cleaner. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
