My Toshiba model 57h81 is 5+ years old. It just stopped working. The small red led next to the power button just blinks on and off when you try to power it on.

I had the same issue with my 57 in. Mitsubishi. I fixed it by buying a new projection bulb. The Mitsubishi manual indicated this was the fix for my Mitsubishi TV. Be advised that new projection bulbs are not inexpensive. My TV works like new once the projection bulb was replaced.

The picture on my Toshiba 65H84 - 65 Inch Theaterwide HD Projection Television is going dark. Is there a bulb that I can replace? If so, how?

This model 65H84 is a rear projection type with three picture tubes. And if I am not mistaken is around 10 years old. So, if it is at least 10 years old then the picture tubes are getting weak and burned out, therefore not producing a bright enough picture. Typical with rear projection with age on them.

dont know about warranties but horizontal lines means your horizontal frequency which runs about everything has drifted off sync and if too high or low it will activate shut down circuits in high voltage and power suppy, even causing HOT transistor to short. good luck and call a tech.
