Poor resolution

when i edit movies 2 make in to 1 movie picture quality or resolution is poor wat settings should i set resolution 2 and wat file type shud i save it as ie pal .avi ?? and codec wat not thanks. i use a jvc gz-mg135aa on ultra fine resolution
