You can right click on the icon and check it's properties.

It should link to the proper place in your program files. This is the path specified for my icon. You might actually be able to copy and paste this into your icon properties and see if it works.

Otherwise, you should open Program Files in your C: drive and look for the Crystal Eye folder that has been installed since you re-installed it from acer/support. Find the executable in the crystal eye webcam folder that does start your webcam properly, and then when you've found it, right click on it and specify that you want to make a shortcut to it. Then take the shortcut that appears and move it over to your desktop to replace the disconnected icon that isn't working.

Good luck,

You may not be able to find the driver for the Crystal Eye. Acer didn't really offer these drivers like they should have. If you don't use the webcam that much then you can just ignore the fact the the webcam driver isn't installed. You could contact ACER and they may help you with finding the correct driver. I would first go to ACER's website, jump thru the hoops the have and see if they offer a driver download for it. I wouldn't get my hopes up though. I've been to their site on several occasions looking for the Crystal Eye driver, and I've probably only found the correct driver once or twice. There's more than one version of their Crystal Eye Webcam, so finding the driver is a real head-ache. If you can't find it on their website, and if you can't get any help from their techs with it, then it would be easier to go out & buy a new USB webcam.

Crystal eye webcam for acer aspire 6920G says camera not found

hey, I had the same problem, I've got an Acer Aspire 6920 and I swapped out Vista that was on it for Windows XP

I went to the link you posted but it just goes to
so I figured I'd try something

if you go to acer aspire 6920 drivers, you can only pick Vista and Windows 7, and not Windows XP

instead, pick 6530 drivers (older acer) and pick the Bison driver:

Install it (with or without installing the previous Crystal eye, doesn't matter, and it will work properly

Cannot find the icon or whatever in order to use the crystal eye

Right click on an open space of your desktop. Select New>Shortcut.

When the Create Shortcut window comes up, click Browse.

    Double-click "Computer".

Double-click "Acer (C:)" or your C: drive. It may not be named Acer.

    Double-click "Program Files".

    Double-click "Acer Crystal Eye webcam".

Click "Acer Crystal Eye webcam" next to the small icon. (NOTE: Do not select the one that just says "Crystal Eye". It is only an icon, not the program.)

    Click OK.

Back at the Create Shortcut window, click Next.

Type in whatever name you want to give, or leave the default as is.

    Click Finish.

Icon appears on desktop. Double-click the icon to begin the program.
