Laptop has an error message that says boot manager is missing press contrl alt delete to restart computer

If you go to this link it will walk you through the steps of being able to reprogram your boot manager. Its a software issue, not hardware. If you have your windows cd (windows 7 or Vista) you should of got when you bought the computer, it will walk you through all the steps & help you repair it for free.

If you don't have access to the disk another possibility is that you can turn your computer on, while it is turning keep pushing down F8 button continually during start up. That should take you to the internal computer operating system, where you can select safe mode. When it opens you will be asked if you want to continue in safe mode or reboot computer to a date that worked you know of. It will restart it from that point, before you got a virus.
Hope either help, not sure if reboot way will work without a boot manager but worth a try. I've done it when I got infected with a virus on my dell laptop.

Boot MGR IS MISSING

What actual operating system do you have?
Windows XP does not use the Boot Manager as this was introduced with Windows Vista or Windows 7 and higher versions.

If you are missing the Boot Mgr for Windows Vista or 7, then you will need to do a Startup Repair which you can do using either a Recovery CD if you have one, or else using the Vista or 7 installation disc.

See the following links:

My laptop says bootmgr is missing and i dont know how to fix

First make sure that all usb devices are unplugged and remove all cd's or dvd's or sd cards etc.
If you are running Windows 7 or Vista you can try do a repair by hitting F8 while it boots and then select repair. If this does not work you will need a install disc. If you have Windows XP you will need an install CD to do a repair. I have attached a few links that may help explain in detail. Thanks for using fixya.

Windows boot manager (the one that launches it) is corrupted or totally missing. You should try to fix that by following this:

When i turn on computer says bootmgr is missing

Hello I believe you have some system configuration problems or perhaps a damaged boot sector. A sure fix would be to boot to the installation disc and perform a repair installation. If no luck, boot to a DOS disc and type in fixmbr. Then attempt the repair installation of windows. Hope this helps.

Boot mgr is missing

Boot Manager is missing If the boot partition no longer can be found, then Vista will display the following error: BOOTMGR is missing. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
The Windows Boot Configuration Data file is missing required information
More Info MS KB 919529 More Info MS KB 927391 Check points for fixing missing boot-manager: Check that your boot device is configured properly Boot into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and perform a "Startup Repair". Boot Manager is compressed If by accident having compressed the entire boot partition, then Vista will display the following error: BOOTMGR is compressed. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart OR maybe try this first. Check points for fixing compressed boot-manager: Boot into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and perform a "Startup Repair". If the above doesn't solve the problem then boot into WinRE again, but when selecting the Vista-installation, then press "Load Drivers" (Instead of "Next") and use the mini Windows Explorer to right-click the boot-drive and deselect "Compress this Drive" and choose Apply to sub-folders and files. If that also fails then boot into WinRE again, and go to the "Command Prompt" and execute these commands: compact /U C:\bootmgr compact /U C:\ntldr If you for some strange reason have lost your Vista DVD, then you can also use a Windows 2000 / XP install CD and enter the recovery console instead and execute the following commands: attrib -c c:\bootmgr attrib -c c:\ntldr

Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

Boot Manager is missing

you can often fix it right back up using the original Vista installation disk. Which comes with a pretty extensive System Recovery Tool that's got lots of options. Set your computer to boot from DVD (using the Boot setting in the BIOS), insert the disc and restart. Vista will prompt you for language and keyboard layout options, then ask if you want to reinstall Vista or repair your installation. You want Repair. From there Vista's System Recovery Tool will take over. this is the only way to get back from the dreaded boot manager missing error.
