The weights of a penny depends on their dates.

Indian Head pennies dated 1864 to 1909 weigh 3.11 grams.

The Lincoln, Wheat Ears Reverse penny weighs 3.11 grams except for steel cents made only in 1943 that weigh 2.67 grams.

The Lincoln, Memorial Reverse penny (1959 to mid 1982) weighs 3.11 grams.
The Lincoln, Memorial Reverse penny (mid 1982 to present) weighs 2.5 grams.
It's not easy to tell the 1982s apart, so to figure out how many cents weigh a pound (or any other amount) you'd have to decide which date range you wanted to use and eliminate all 1982 coins. To help, a pound is 453.6 gm so just divide that by the weight of the penny date that you decided to use.

British decimal general circulation coins are dimensioned as follows:

1 Penny (from 1968 - 1991) 20.32 mm diameter, 1.52 mm thick, weigh 3.56 grams and are made from 97% copper, 2.5% zinc and 0.5% tin. The edge is plain.

1 Penny (from 1992) 20.32 mm diameter, 1.65 mm thick, weigh 3.56 grams and are made from copper plated steel. The edge is plain.

2 Pence (from 1971 - 1991) 25.9 mm diameter, 1.85 mm thick, weigh 7.12 grams and are made from 97% copper, 2.5% zinc and 0.5% tin. The edge is plain.

During their period of issue, they were referred to as a Crown due to them being of the same dimensions as the pre-decimal Crown coin. These coins were discontinued from 1982 but remain legal tender. Circulation of these coins is uncommon.

2 Pound (from 1997) 28.4 mm diameter, 2.5 mm thick, weigh 12 grams and are bimetal made from 76% copper, 20% zinc and 4% nickel in the outer ring, and the centre is 25% nickel and 75% copper. The edge is milled with incuse lettering.

5 Pound (from 1990) 38.61 mm diameter, 2.89 mm thick, weigh 28.28 grams and are made from 75% copper and 25% nickel. The edge is milled. Intended as a souvenir or collectible, but occasionally seen in circulation. These coins are now referred to as a Crown due to them being of the same dimensions as the pre-decimal Crown coin.

The following are specifications of British decimal coins which have been demonetised and are no longer legal tender. Unless they are uncirculated or Proof, they have minimal collector value.

Half Penny (from 1971 - 1984) 17.14 mm diameter, 1 mm thick, weigh 1.78 grams and are made from 97% copper. The edge is plain.

5 Pence (from 1968 - 1989) 23.59 mm diameter, weigh 3.25 grams and are made from 75% copper and 25% nickel. The edge is milled.

Hello. Your scale has an autocalibration feature. It should calibrate itself. If it is off, your only option is to replace it. Joe

There are different digital scales available for the home, or in your business (like your kitchen scale, bathroom scale, weight scale or food scale), but you have to calibrate them first before you can use them. There are different brands of digital scales like Primo and Tanita, and each of these brands has different instructions on how to operate them for calibration.

Scale is not weighing correctly. Weighs correct

The scale must be on a hard, level surface. Make sure there is absolutely no dirt on any of the pivot points. Calibrate it with a KNOWN 25 pound weight.

This is more the scale costs.

Moral of the story. Don't buy Tanita.

Mini digital scale displays out2

I just had this problem on set Salter scales (says 3309 on label on back so assume that's model no) which came up OUT2 solidly after hadn't been used for a while.
Looking on WWW this means on other scales they need to be recalibrated. There are only 2 buttons on ths model ON/Zero and 2nd is mode for grams, oz etc. Discovered by trial and error have to hold down the on button and repeatedly click the measure button as it powers up, screen says err2 press on button again and says 5000g, put 5000g weight on scales, press on button again display says CAL press on button and it at first came up with EEEE and failed but next attempt it said PASS and it all worked again. I used 2 x 1.5kg bags flour and 2 x 1Kg bags sugar to make 5kg with bit tipped out of one to make exact and checked on another set scales. So trick appears to be finding how to get your scales in to calibrate mode and what the weight it expects is.
