This can be various problems. It might be able to be fixed by simply opening up the ipod and re-inserting the logic board cable to the hard drive. This problem could also be fixed by restarting your ipod, putting it in disk mode, and restoring it with itunes. If this doesn't fix it, you need to replace your logic board or your hard drive.

Hpdv9910us cd/dvd does not play

IF you go into my computer and your drive is not showing then i would go into your device manager and see if your cd/dvd drive shows a exclamation mark if it does then you have to go into your registry and delete upper and lower filters

1) Close all open programs
2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter
3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
* SYSTEM
* CurrentControlSet
* Control
* Class
* {4D36E965-E325-11CE-
BFC1-08002BE10318}

4) This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

* UpperFilters
* LowerFilters
* UpperFilters.bak
* LowerFilters.bak

5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
6) After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor
7) Reboot your computer
8) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone

if you show no exclamation mark in your devicemanager then you myst call HP for repair

My ipod mini 4gig has been corrupted. trying to restore but unfortunately it wont. it is just showing an apple icon and a triangle with a exclamation point. when connected to a computer it does not...

There are many iPod error icons with exclamation marks

The Sad iPod icon (93936_4.gif ) usually means that the iPod can't access it's Hard Drive. I've seen that hitting the ipod on a soft surface occasionally fixes this. You may need to take the iPod for repair

The Folder Error icon (93936_1.gif) may mean the battery is low, the ipod needs to be reset, restored or needs a service

The Battery Icon (93936_2.gif) usually means the battery needs charging

93936_3.gif means a disk scan failed and will be repeated when the ipod is turned on or reset.

Try restoring it continuouly until it does (eventually worked for mine)

if it is anything else, your iPod may need repair.

Good Luck!

Computer and ipod

The exclamation mark next to a title in iTunes means that iTunes cannot locate the song associated with that title (original file cannot be found). The cause for this is an incorrect setting of iTunes preferences when copying iPod songs.
Before copying your iPod songs, setup your iTunes preferences as follows
  • Open iTunes preferences (in the Edit menu)
  • Select the Advanced tab.
  • Make sure the box next to "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" is checked.
  • Click OK.
Then use a program like TouchCopy to copy your iPod music to iTunes. You can download TouchCopy from here

MY IPOD IS SAYING GO TO WWW.APPLE.COM/SUPPORT/IPOD

If the iPod is showing the "Sad iPod face" icon, this means that the hard drive inside the iPod is dead and needs to be replaced.

If the iPod is showing the "Folder/Exclamation Point" icon, this means that the logic board (the circuit board) inside the iPod is no longer working properly and needs to be replaced in order for the iPod to work.

Iod scren displays a yeidl sign and folder file on the screen

Hi, As i understand you see a folder with exclamation mark on it...

So 1st you hav to try resting the ipod.... Try to press and hold the menu and the center button for approx 6 to 8 secs... then once you see a Apple logo release the buttons. this should work

Other solution would be restoring your ipod to factory settings by connecting it to computer and restoring it using itunes... then update the software as well

If not... try to connect the ipod to computer and then open Mycomputer....Right click on ipod.... then format it.... wait for the format process... then using itunes restore it to factory settings

This has to work

Reply if unable ot if you need any help

IPod won't turn on, apple sign comes on, then a file image with exclamation mark

Dear Rachel, This is often the result of a corrupt file system or a dead/dying internal iPod hard drive.  The way to eliminate the file system as the cause is to do a RESTORE.  It is probably not showing up on the computer in iTunes, so you need to try to force it into disk mode.  To do this, follow the instructions below: 1)  Toggle the HOLD slider switch to ON then OFF again.  First slide over you will see orange, then slide it back to cover the orange in the hold slider.
2)  Repeat what you did by holding down the menu and select buttons and when you get the Apple logo, IMMEDIATELY let go and hold down the Select and Play buttons.
3)  You SHOULD see a check mark on the screen and along the top of the screen should be the words, "Disk Mode."  If that is there, plug in your iPod to the computer and wait for iTunes to startup.
4)  In iTunes, select the iPod and then just click on the RESTORE YOUR IPOD button to reinstall the original software (you will lose your tunes stored in your iPod, but you should have them on your iTunes anyway).
If none of this works and you get the nasty sad icon again, it is most likely the hard drive or another hardware issue.  My advice from here is to check with the following company and have them do a FREE diagnosis and quote for repair.  Just go to Rapid Repair at this URL:  http://www.rapidrepair.com/
Good luck and I hope this helps! Jeffrey Wrobel

My iPod (4th gen 20gig) seems to have died... when you switch it on the apple logo appears then a folder with an exclamation mark... It also isn't recognized when you plug it into the PC...Also I have seen...

battery is not the problem, most likely your hard drive is bad, or motherboard is defective somehow, try open the ipod, and disconnect the battery, see if hard drive connector is installed properly, then plug the battery back and try to turn it on, helps 50/50, if not - replace the hard drive
