I called the 800 number they looked up the fan didn't have any parts of know anything about the fan. They said it was to old. I have serveral questions.

    1. Is there someone on line that knows about old fans from 40 & 50's.

    2. What is the part that looks like transformer that not mounted on the motor but on the frame of the fan case that has 3 wires coming out of it that runs to the switch what is this called.

Not available, not even from the manufacturer that I can see. But rather than replace the whole part, with nothing to loose I would go to Radio Shack first, a 3 wire switch is pretty common and you can test out the transformer/capacitor with a digital voltmeter. They should have something comparable.

How do I find the fuses in Microwave

Mainly there are three/four fuses in Microwaves depend to maker.
First one to be checked it is on plug about 13A in cable out side microwave
Second one for power supply usually comes 10A located in terminal board of cable supply in side microwave if you follow the cable.
Third fuse i think about 5A for high voltage it located usually on wire connected between transformer and capacitor.
Fourth some Microwave have third one on the control board located behind switch panel.

now.

if the second fuse is blowing immediately after starting microwave that usually mean one or more of the following need to be replaced

1- diode
2- HV. capacitor
3- magnatiron

Which only can replaced by skill technicians

THANK YOU.

How to disassemble lasko hassock floor fan

I'm assuming you want to open the fan up to give it a thorough cleaning. This is how I got one open. First things first, make sure it's unplugged. No need to risk zapping yourself of accidentally turning it on when your fingers are in range of the fan blade...

Turn the fan upside down. There are four very long Phillips screws concealed by long plastic sleeves that cover the shafts of the screws, with the ***** heads covered by the rubber feet at the bottom of the unit. Pop out the rubber feet, then loosen the screws (there will likely be an alarming snap when they break loose). The two-piece top of the unit will come loose. You can then remove the screws and the plastic sleeves that hide the screws.

Turn the unit right side up and remove the fan blade. The nut holding the blade on is reverse thread, so "lefty loosy, righty tighty" will not apply--turn the nut clockwise to loosen. Remove the nut and lock washer, then pull the blade from underneath the hub (it'll take a bit of force to pop it off.

The wire from the motor to the speed control switch connects the base to the cylindrical center portion of the unit. To separate the center portion from the base, pull the knob off of the shaft of the switch and remove the ***** holding it in place. The switch can then be disconnected from the center piece. I'd put the ***** back into the switch to keep it from disappearing.

The motor can be removed from the base by removing the three screws holding it to the base from underneath, but unless you're looking to replace the motor, you shouldn't need to do this.

Put it back together by reversing the disassembly process.

Indoor fan barely turning

the three post capacitor has c for line voltage in, the f or fan is for the outdoor motor, and com or comp goes to start winding compressor.youll have to follow wires from indoor motor to find capacitor. to find wires to outdoor motor to capacitor you have line voltage and capacitor wires .look for schematic it would help or send colors of wires from both motors and compressor common, start .run.

Is it possible that the capacitor only needs changed or the whole motor?

It is possible that the capacitor is bad, I had one just the other day with the same scenario. Just get a volt meter and locate the wiring diagram and check power coming out of the capacitor that should be going to the fan or whereever else you want to check

Hello, I replaced a light fixture on my existing Emerson ceiling fan. The light worked right away but the blades didn't turn. I could hear power going to the motor so I went back into the switch cup and...

Signs of a bad capacitor in a ceiling fan include:

  • Fan runs slowly or not at all on all speeds
  • Fan will not start but will spin if started by hand
  • Certain speeds are slow or do not work
  • The motor hums and turns freely by hand but will not spin

The capacitor is usually a black box inside the switch housing of the fan. If this box appears burnt or melted in any way, that is also the sign of a bad capacitor and it should be replaced.

    Ah.

A simple Capacitor based speed control. How many places do you have to put wires on your switch? You may have mis-wired the switch, or you have the wrong switch.

How it all works is... When you turn the fan to High, or position 1 on the switch (there's L 1 2 and 3) the power goes from 1, to the capacitor, but does not go through the capacitor, but instead goes through the second (probably gray) wire directly to the reversing switch in the switch housing. When you switch to medium (or 2) both 2 and 3 positions on the switch are supposed to be sending power through both capacitors inside of the black box. Basically, you have two capacitors, when you go to medium, both are wired in parallel to each other, but on low, only one is in the circuit. Basically, the switch you have, or have mis-wired, is putting only one capacitor in the circuit at the time on medium and low positions.

Also, do not worry, so long as you only mess with these 4 wires, you cannot blow anything up, However! When you disconnect power from the fan, BE SURE that the fan is "On" when you turn the power off to ensure the capacitor discharges as you can get a very very nasty shock from the bare wires.

The two brown wires go to the fans capacitor. The capacitor should always be changed with the fan motor.

It sounds like your unit has a dual capacitor. One side for the fan and the other for the compressor. All you will be doing (After rewiring the compressor wires as they were originally.) is abandoning the fan side of the capacitor, and wiring your new capacitor to the brown and brown with stripe wires. It does not matter which terminals the brown wires go on.

Trying to replace 3 speed ceiling fan switch and don't know which wires go where - 3 speed fan switch, 4 wire unit.

    Hi
    The pull switch has 4 wires, L, 1, 2, 3.
Connect ' L' to the reverse switch red wire or the wire that is free.
Connect ' 3 ' to the main black ( hot ) wire entering the fan.
    Connect ' 1 ' to the capacitor's lowest uF eg. ( 1.5 uF )
    Connect ' 2 ' to the capacitor's next uF eg. ( 3 uF )
the Capaciotr also has to be connected to the neutral wire entering the fan, usually black attached to another color wire. If you have a VOM tester, veryfy that it is a neutral wire.

Check the transformer. Turn t.stat to on. If the fan doesn't engage change transformer. Also discharge your capacitor and test. If micro-farads are low it is a good indicator that the capacitor is either bad or going bad. Change and crank her up...
