joe, the brush does not move down into the turning position. there is nothing obstructing it, as i've stated. what i need to know from you is what parts do i need to replace? i already spoke with a great white tech. with poor results. so if you can't tell me what parts to replace, i can't accept your solution. regards pg.

the previous expert states he's not an expert. is there an expert who has knowledge of the pool cleaner in question? if not, maybe a refund is in order.

  • pgugs May 07, 2010

I've read the guide several times before i contacted you people. as you may have noticed there are a fair number of parts inside this unit. my sole purpose in paying you all was to find out which parts would cause the problem i'am experiencing. apparently, thats not going to happen. so, at this time, iam requesting a full refund. thank you.

I had this problem, it was caused by one tooth missing from a gear. This is an easy fix, but be careful when taking it apart, be sure to note were the gears go. You should also see if the rubber skirt needs replacing, note that it has to go on facing the correct way, so be sure to note the way the existing skirt is attached.

Hello. While the cleaner is running, turn it upside down under water and check to see that the turning brush moves into the "down" position with in about two minutes. Here is a link to the manual to explaint this further. http://www.starite.com/pdf/S364(12-3-03).PDF

If it is working properly it will clean the pool floor but it is not designed to clean steps.

It may well need the gear you speak about. Confirm that with the great white technician at 800-752-0183

Even if you see the lift brush moving up and down it may be worn out. Mine went in a straight line or stuck against the pool steps. Ordered lift brush ($26) and now it works great.

Hoover steamvac 50 stopped spinning

Hi! The brushes can stop spinning if something is obstructing them such as carpet fibers, hair, dirt or debris. Remove the brushes from the cleaner by grasping the plastic outer housing and pulling firmly away from the cleaner. Remove any debris and run it under running water to clean. On the back of the brush-block assembly there's a plastic drive pin that rotates all the brushes when turned. Turn the drive pin and ensure that all brushes are making a complete 360° degree turn. If the brushes are getting stuck or if a brush falls out then the brush-block will need to be replaced. Follow the link here to order a replacement brush-block for the Steamvac Search Results. Below is a list of models this brush will fit.

Phantom does not move gets stuck in one spot

Is the cleaner getting stuck at steps, corners, etc? If so, your spin out is too short. Change the cam to the "winter" position to increase the pool cleaners spin out.

My Pentair legend pool cleaner is not moving

On this automatic pool cleaner, this is usually an easy thing to fix. First, make sure that your filter bag is clean and free of obstructions. Next, take of your head float and shake it. If you can hear water inside, you will need to order a new head float and install it. They are usually inexpensive and easy to replace. Make sure the hose floats are evenly placed and make sure that the cleaner is not getting too much pressure from the return lines.

Pentair Great White pool cleaner not walking

Make sure that your automatic pool cleaner is getting the proper pressure from the return lines to move the wheels. Also, make sure that the filter bag is clean and the the impellers are free. Both of these can restrict movements. You might also want to check your hose and make sure that there are not blockages/knots/etc.

Suction is great, maybe too good. unit does not

Your probally right about the suction being too much. If you have a main drain and it get's stuck there you need to shut the drain off as the two suctions will stick to each other. If it get's stuck in random places then you just have to much suction to the unit. You can test by slowley pulling two of the hoses apart to let some of the suction escape. If this fixes it you can purchase a dirveter to mount where you mount the cleaner. Their may be one in the box your cleaner came in, so be sure to look there first before spending on a new one.Good luck.
