Question about Sony KP-53S35 53" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

I have a Sony KP-53S35 53 inch Rear Projection TV connected to a Directv Receiver. The TV does turn on, but the screen goes blank and VIDEO 1 is displayed. It will stay on, but will continue to do this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Could this be a problem with the lamp? Is there a part number for the lamp?

My Directv is set to Video 1. I do not have cable nor an antenna connected so all I see is know when I follow your instructions.

Hi,
Press any channel button on tv remote to switch its input source as TV to watch tv channels.
As you said, screen shows Video-1 display that means tv is set on input-1 that need to be changed, press channel button on remote or tv front to shift it on tv channels mode.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

OK, so video box is hooked in Video-1
Please select Video-1 input in TV, check video cable is plugged properly in tv and cable box.
Unplug cable box from wall socket for couple of minutes to get it reset, replug back in and turn it On.
If problem still not solved then check with cable company as cable box seems defective.
You can test tv video-1 input by plugging dvd player video output to get its picture.
    Thanks.

My sony tv stars blinking 5 times in a row, then the picture goes black for a second comes back then goes black again and it keeps doing it non stop

tv has a blanking picture mute circuit. adjust the screen controls which are located behind the speaker grill in front of set. there will be a access panel to unscrew in center and then you will see a black 4 inch square box with 6 physical knobs. 3 control screen the other 3 controls focus for red, green, blue. turn them down and slowly start turning them up. fixed.

Screen goes black and resets during HD shows

I just posted this to another Sony owner:

Another point; HD Ready does not mean that it is HD compatible without the addition of an optional part.
The title only implies that it can be adapted to HD reception.
If you did not purchase it with the set, check your user guide to see what you need to make it whole.
You may have to seek this add-on on eBay since it is not guaranteed that Sony will still offer it.

You might want to check this:

FIVE Blinks---AKB circuit (AKB), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about
30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with
the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C
board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also unit be in IK blanking,
try turning up screen slightly.
