Question about Samsung CLP 300 Laser Printer

1 Answer

Damaged transfer belt. Repairable? What is part number if so?

Under the top cover of a Samsung CLP-300 there is broad thin plastic belt. A narrow gray strip along the left hand edge of this belt has broken, causing the belt to tear and fail.
Is this replaceable?
What is the part number?

Thanking you in anticipation.

It can be replaced, but only Samsung repair tech can do that. Because there is a resistor on the unit that when you replace the belt incorrectly, it blows resetting the transfer counter.

The part number of the belt is JC96-03611A (Samsung transfer belt).

I would suggest to contact Samsung and have them replace it for you, so that you can be sure that the printer will work again.

Thank you and good luck!

Can you tell me how to replace the transfer belt imaging unit?

First you open the left side door, then press the button and lift the top cover, the transfer unit is the first on top with a handle and levers to release. The drum unit is under that also with blue levers to release.

T-shirt printing sheet stuck in back top roller of CLP-300.

I have managed to solve the problem as follows.
I opened the back cover of the printer and after removing the 4 screws, carefully removed the unit containing the rubber-covered roller. This needs to be done by very gently tugging the right side first and then pushing in - again very gently - the spring loaded end roller on the top left hand side, which locates in a socket on the side casing.
Once the unit was removed, I removed the narrow plastic bar covering the roller (again two screws) and placed it on one side.
The T-shirt paper had rolled itself completely round the rubber roller to approximately 3 thicknesses and the heat had glued parts of it together. I took a sharp narrow-bladed steak-knive and with the point, teased up the edge of the topmost level, nibbling away across the length of the roller until I reached the other side.
It was then relatively easy to score the remaining levels of paper and once this was achieved, by rotating the drum by means of the gear wheel on the right hand side, fed the paper through the slot and off the drum, which, thankfully was intact.
I replaced the bar, replaced the unit into the printer (taking care to hold down the spring-loaded plastic 'feelers' on top) and replaced the screws.
Switching the printer back on, the system light turned reassuringly green, I sent a file to the printer from Open Office and after a few moments normal printing was resumed.
The moral of the tale is DON'T PANIC!!!!!1

The order iin which you open and close two of the covers is important, as there is an interlock between two of them. This can (and does) get damaged.

The toner access door is the first one you open, THEN the top cover (the one that gives access to the Transfer Belt and Drum.

Make sure the Drum unit is properly pushed into the printer, and that the Transfer Belt is lacated properly AND the two locking levers fot the Transfer Belt are in their locked positions PROPERLY.

THEN close top cover - you shouldn't need to force it.
Followed by the Toner access door.

Yes check the duplex door too !

If this fails it is likely to be a broken case part, or failed sensor.
