1 Answer

No Power My Vizio L32 is a referbished and out of warrentee. The first time my TV turned itself off was Febuary 2008. Call Vizio and the tech said unplug the unit at the back of the set, wait 3 to 5 minutes and plug it back in..... Whoo Hoo! Fixed. Last night 3/24/05, TV shuts itself off 2:00 am.. I do the unplug and replug and whalla it works. 2:30 am TV shuts itself off - do the unplug and replug - nothing, just a flicker of the power light. I have plugged from my power strip to a different source, NOTHING! Vizio gives me an 800 number for repair and they qoute minum $300.00, Trust me, if I had that kind of money for repair, I'd buy a new unit for $500.00 Can you help me? Thanks, Shirley in Sun City, AZ

my vizion l37 turns off by itself also but it does it when first turned on and then as I keep turning it back on the frequency gets less and less to the point by the afternoon it will stay on for the most part...terribly annoying in the middle of an online racing game tho.

The Vizio is powered on, but no screen image. Like the many of other Vizio 32-inch HDTV owners with the same problem, we called Vizio and of course, the TV is just past the warranty date. Vizio says their repair representative can fix it for $350. Why bother? What happens when it goes out again? Obviously Vizio doesn't stand by the quality of their product. We won't be buying another Vizio.

My 37" Vizio is shutting off with increasing frequency. At first I thought that it was the cable box so I disconnected that completely. Then I took the tv out of the cabinet to see if heat was an issue. The tv now shuts off after just a few minutes of operation.

It appears that the power supply is starting to fail. It is also possible that there is another board in the set that is over-loading the supply.

The nature of the fault indicates the strong possibility that there are some parts that have become thermo sensitive. This is not a reset problem going by your description. Unplugging the set, is allowing the boards to cool down, and therefore they will work for a while until the thermo sensitive parts heat up again.

If it simply wont do anything,. you will need to contact Vizio. It is possible the tv has simply fried itself.

Tv turns on by itself

Unusual. most likely reason is a failure of the standby management chip which is a component of the sets power supply board, they usually blow up rather than initiate uncalled starts though. This needs examining by someone who has experience with flat screens. If you were to look at vizio l32 psu on google, you'd see why.

Vizio TV wont turn on after three weeks no use

My vizio recently did the same exact thing. Vizio sent an HDTV tech out to fix it and it was the power board. He put a new board in (took 15 min) and the tv works like new.

My Vizio L32 periodically turns itself off, multiple time a day.

My 42" and 32" started doing that, I bought it form Costco, they set me up with Vizio under warrarnty. A tech came out and changed out the circuit boards, but the problem persisted, they are now going to send me a reburbished replacement. I'm not Happy, they should send me a new non defective one(actually 2). I will not be buying any more Vizios!

I have a vizio L32 manufactured in 2005 - Won't turn on

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.

If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

No power! It was working fine then it would cut on off

That problem is related to the mainboard, if your tv is under warranty just call vizio and they will send you a tech, if not, just take a look at ebay or any online tv parts store to find out the price.
You will need the product code and model number, look in the back of the tv next to the serial number.
